LSU since 2002:
Virginia Tech (twice) - Top 15 in 2002, Top 10 in '07
Arizona (twice; '03 & '05)
Arizona State (twice) (Top 15 in 2005, I forget the 2nd time)
Oregon State (2004)
Washington (twice; 2008 & 2012)
Oregon (#2 or #4 when we played them last year)
West Virginia (twice, Top 15 both times in 2010 & 2011)
LSU has no issues with scheduling cupcakes. Just an FYI.

i hate when people bitch about this. there is literally nothing wrong with this if you ask me. people bitch about wanting better games but then imagine this jack off having a conniption because Bammer is dropping games to all these OOC teams.

As a Bama fan I know I would rather watch Bama play OU, Stanford, and West Virginia than Western Kentucky, Fla Atlantic and Western Carolina.
I think most LSU fans (or any top program) would say the same.

No coach or AD is going to play a 8 game conference schedule and then place four BCS caliber programs on the non-conference slate. That is suicide.

the only way it'd ever be happened is if it was instituted NCAA-wide and there is no chance the ADs turn over scheduling power to them. and who is the NCAA to determine that? it's up to the schools how many teams they play, where, and who. and it isn't fair at all to the teams making these pay days and thus paying for the entire athletics program. without these games idk how many of these teams can really continue to support their teams.

People worry about paying to see a rent-a-win, but forget about the importance those games play for young players' development.

Look the cupcake games really aren't a big deal. It is better to have those tune up games, than going cold bore into big games. Its not like every year programs schedule pansies. I think 2 or 3 of the OOC games are made years before they are played and many of the teams can't really control how they are ranked in the preseason.

Why? If every other division 1 team is doing the same thing it's fair. So what if there are no undefeated teams.

WKU isn't a bad football team. They will probably win the Sun Belt this year and just beat SEC member Kentucky. Granted, they suck compared to Alabama...but they would beat Auburn for sure.

I think we should keep 4 non-conference games, but only two can be "cupcake" games.

you nailed it and it's probably my favorite reason we play them. we already get GT every year and McGarity, while he has shown his UF scheduling tutelage, has shown he is still willing to add a marquee game here and there so really while the game itself isn't the same for us as a fans i love it. no better practice going.

You are being an elitist arse. Teams like Alcorn and JSU get the equivalent of half their yearly athletic department budget just to play us for one game.

Let me ask you guys this. Why do you NOT have a problem with a regimented format for determining conference opponents, but you DO have a problem with a format for determining non-conference opponents?

And we play in the mutherlovin SEC for cryin out loud. We play 8 marquee games a year. The op is just a spoiled fan who doesn't understand the economics of college football or the underlying importance of scheduling "patsies"
