I think Clemson will win, but maybe you should also take a look at the ND-Syracuse and Clemson-Syracuse margins of victory.

None of Clemson, Alabama or Oklahoma played any conference winners this season.

So I offer a clear response to your response.

Instead of acknowledging you were wrong, you move the goalposts?

Guess you are hitting that green Kool Aid pretty hard.

If you were in the conference (like you should have to be) you wouldn't have played Pitt, you would've faced a play in against Clemson. You sat at home though and didn't risk loss or injury. Congrats!

I did not mean “just like” as in the same fashion/margin. It was meant as “also”. OP’s point was ND didn’t play a conference championship game. My point was if ND was 13-0 but beat Pitt by 5 yesterday or Northwestern by 10 yesterday and called it a conference championship game, no one would say anything.

UGA is free to be an independent at any time. Conferences are a very socialist idea.

I’d love it if Georgia went independent. You think these pack their conference with bullshite. I’d love to see Georgia independent schedule. It would be like ten shite teams and one team they can get a moral victory from

I see, but that would mean the Irish go "all in" on Acc membership.

I think this is where you get the disconnect as they want 12-0 to equal 13-0 and it clearly does not. The committee says the 13th game matters but then gives the Irish a pass. Do you really think that sits well with the 5 P5 presidents, AD's, and conference officers?

But why doesn’t 12-0 equal 13-0? Why would ND need to schedule a token win over an FCS team, just to get a magical number of 13? That’s my point.

While true, we are pretty disappointed with who they played, too. I mean we should have a Clemson/ND game, not a Clemson/Pitt championship game. You picked very convenient matchups.

If you don't do something ND will slip further. If you get blasted in the playoffs, it might be a long, long time before they extend that invitation again. Two bad Championship showings in a row will no help your image.

For instance...if you were in the ACC, it would have been Clemson/ND. That would have been a bit more compelling, don't you think?

There are times we don't agree, but this is one time which we do. ND cost OSU a spot in the playoffs. OSU probably has the better team between OSU/ND. It would be interesting to see if they had vacated the OSU/Northwestern game and had ND play OSU. Winner goes to the playoffs.

Not really an option

Look, Think going past 8 team regional conferences with local traditions is the best way but much of that was destroyed when Beyers ran the NCAA as his personal kingdom for about 3 decades.

Corporations moved in when the CFA formed (Irish were a charter member) to combat the NCAA and no college president or AD will take a 75% pay cut to fix it even tho the current model is similar to the Roman collapse and the games went from being for the masses to just the Emperor an the Senate.

Actually sec teams should get on Notre dame's schedule, so we don't have to worry about them getting blown out come playoff time.
