Bingo. The Confederate flag for MOST Southerners is a symbol of Southern pride and independence. It says "Im from the South and frick you if you're a yank" It has also been co-opted by hate groups and now we have this b.s to deal with.
All this crap is going to do is spur a resurgence of Southern pride. Theyre trying to quash it. Theyve been fighting this battle of shutting Southeners up since before the Civil War broke out.
No Dukes of Hazard on TV. Ole Miss has a damn bear mascot. Dixie is somehow an offensive song. The list of dumb shite goes on and on. Why do we keep letting them chip away at our Southern identity. Enough is enough.
All this crap is going to do is spur a resurgence of Southern pride. Theyre trying to quash it. Theyve been fighting this battle of shutting Southeners up since before the Civil War broke out.

It’s not even about the Civil War anymore. Some of these dumbasses are going after any statue of a white man at this point. After seeing the WWII memorial vandalized, it’s apparent that this isn’t just about the CSA battle flag.
Just to clarify, I understand it’s a relatively small group of extremists carrying out these the acts, but in my opinion they’re just as big of a hate group as any.

I think the point most are trying to make is the “give an inch and they’ll take a mile” idea. It seems as if Orwell’s 1984 should have been titled 2034. Eventually every street will be filled with blank, generic walls because each generation is getting progressively softer. There are so many companies with ties to a dark past that everything would have to be rebranded eventually including the universities we support.

...and Alabama football began in 1892. Time doesn’t matter. A good song is a good song. If you don’t like tradition, write a complaint letter to the school, so someone can read it and throw it in the trash. It makes more sense to add “Roll Tide Roll” to Sweet Home Alabama than some stupid Fetty Wap shite.

Any team with "Rebels" as a mascot needs it changed. (A county hs next to my hometown uses that with red/grey colors &, as far as I know, have no issues about it.)
Does that mean we can say "Yankees" offends us & have NY change their baseball team?

So, what, America is ONLY allowed to honor/remember the NORTH & anything Southern gets removed?

No, no, no. It’s about not honoring groups that the US has defeated. Except native Americans, they get to keep their monuments and memorials. And Mexico, they lost the US Mexican war but we need Cinco de Mayo and it’s an edgy flag to fly at protests. We might as well leave the English markers, memorials, and monuments since they lost the revolutionary war and sorta lost the war of 1812 as part of our history. No one seems upset about the Boot memorial for Benedict Arnold oddly enough.
So maybe it just is about confederate stuff. I don’t recall folks wanting to remove the Statue of Liberty despite the violent and vicious French and Indian wars.

Slavery was wrong then and wrong now. None of that has anything to do with Southerners wanting to express Southern pride. I can fly the Confederate flag and not hate blacks. I realize they most likely wont see it that wauy, of course. But for a lot of people its simply about being from the South. Some dipshits want to be racist douchebags, and that goes for both sides.
