It's resentment all the way down.

You know who else used the Rebel flag? The Clinton/Gore campaign in 1992, and Civil Rights Organizations in the early 60s. The rebel flag has long been one of many symbols of the South, and assholes on the Left unfairly demonized it and extremists on the Right gave it a black eye from which it has never recovered.
But the Klan marched with the US flag at various parades throughout US history, so not sure why it is fair to demonize the rebel flag.

Actually, it promotes the opposite:
"In Birmingham they love the governor. Now we all did what we could do."

Lynyrd Skynard was one of the most progressive bands of their era. Actually listen to the songs.

More revisionist history. It was brought back into popularity by racists. It’s not even all that historically relevant.
And all that aside. If modern society views it as a symbol of racism, it needs to go - regardless if it had a different meaning in the past.
People don’t raise a huge confederate flag on their truck because they like history. It’s 100% viewed as a symbol of racism even by those who use it.
If fricking Nascar did the business calculus and decided it needs to be banned, that should tell you what it stands for.

Hell, the liberals will go after the American flag within the next decade or so. They already tried to shite on the Betsy Ross flag last year.

Horrible idea. If you listen to the lyrics of Sweet Home Alabama, they actually boo George Wallace asking if your conscience bothers you, tell the truth. Easy to discern their point.
There's no reason to ban that song. Don't be a puss*.

That would be a mistake by academics. Then again that is their specialty.

LSUs 1958 National Title should be unclaimed by the school and stripped as the defense was called the Chinese Bandits and wore offensive masks in photos. Rules are Rules

I could see nick Saban replace the white helmet numbers with black numbers for a game

YOU are spouting revisionist history. Southerners and Northerners were erecting monuments to rebel heroes well before the Centennial which happened to coincide with the Civil Rights movement. I don't know where you grew up, but I saw the rebel flag all over pop culture and never once thought it meant slavery or so called White supremacism. Who knew the Dukes of Hazzard were such racisssts!?
And if you think companies are doing these woke moves out of a business calculus, you are a naive fool. You think this move was popular with NASCAR fans? We shall see its effects soon. I predict NASCAR will regret it. Imagine spouting corporate PC talking points, and thinking you are a revolutionary. Today's companies are so woke, they will lose money to make a point. Ideology has trumped profits, especially since their amount of profits are so ridiculously large in a mnonopolized business world, no matter what they do.

I believe that booing was booing people whose consciences's were NOT bothered by Watergate.

Where have you been? They already have! Black extremists were shitting on the flag in the last several years, literally, and posting it to social media. Google it.
