In today’s press conference, Kentucky forward Keldon Johnson spoke on behalf of the Wildcats, saying their prayers go out to the Auburn forward during this difficult time. “He’s a great player,” he said. “Like I said, we heard he got hurt. That’s unfortunate. Our prayers go out to him and his family. I hope if it’s something serious, he gets a speedy recovery.”

Good stuff.

I hate this news. If I could have a favorite player at Auburn, he'd be it.

Sucks to hear, gents. When UNC lost our field general in Kendall Marshall years back, we couldn’t recover. We had no back-up but a white boy on Blue Steel squad by the name of Stillman White.

I’d prefer to beat/lose games with a full compliment of players to avoid that knawing “what-if game.”

But by all appearances, you looked deeper than UNC for skill players that can score though not having a skilled PG is much more of a pickle than a missing forward.

Hope you beat the shite out Greeseball Calipari anyway.

Yep, but it's the timing of it all which was the most devastating.

The nba scouts were all over him and he will miss most of the season. He's a kid from my neck of the woods too, fricking sucks.

Auburn is about as well suited to replace an injured starter as anyone. They have tons of depth. I still think they are title contenders without him. They only need to win 3 more games, not the grind of a whole season without a starter. If they stay this hot at the 3 point line they can and will beat anyone. No team is playing better basketball since the end of the regular season.

It was really something yesterday watching Bruce Pearl choking back tears just saying Okeke's name. Then seeing Okeke put Auburn's name on the board. Also really enjoyed all the players from UNC who came over to wish him well.

Really made you feel good about humanity. Okeke will be greatly missed. Hope he has a great NBA career.

One of the biggest detriments ton losing Okeke is his ability to drive into the lane and score. Harper and Brown are great shooters but they don’t remotely have the ability to drive and score that Okeke has. Okeke is also a big time rebounder so Kentucky’s strength will make it all the more difficult to beat them without Okeke.

True. But Harper drove to the basket at least 6 times last game. That full court drive was beautiful.

I think we need some points from Wiley tomorrow. Purifoy will have to give us some bucket too.

Sucks. Even as a fan of a rival, I hate to see these happen to special talented athletes.
Or any athlete for that matter
