It wouldn’t be a Nate Oata loss without him placing the blame solely on his players

He’s a POS but it’s not the same game it used to be. These kids are getting paid. They need to perform.

mark is to small...my only issue with him however all you gotta say is auburn beat us. thats it. nobody's "fault". 2 teams played, 2 great teams, and one had to win on this day.....and auburn won it cause they played better. no analytics needed. we got beat. at the end of the day the only thing that matters is how did we shoot the ball...poorly? then we lost to #1

He’s not wrong.

Sears is a great player, but he’s also an undersized PG with a 5:3 assist to turnover ratio and was 2:2 last night.

To top that off he shot 23%/13% from the field and struggled again defensively.

That’s not good, particularly for a 5th year super senior AA candidate.

For Bama to reach their ceiling they need a PG who values the ball and is creating opportunities for the other shooters on the team. That might mean Sears needs to be a SG and give primary ball handling responsibilities to Holloway and Philon.

I disagree with your entire message so I’ll break it down

First part correct, goes off the rails from there. SEARS WAS TEAM LEADER IN ASSISTS

quote:

SEARS WAS TEAM LEADER IN POINTS

For us to reach our ceiling, Nate is going to need a player to bring heat inside of a hat to a capital murder scene then completely ignore all evidence thereof.

Honestly, the only real entertaining facet of this board is trying to figure out who the myriad of alters are actually fans of. I am guessing this new one is an Auburn fan or one of the LSU admins.

I think he’s a giant douche but can’t blame him from treating professional basketball players like professionals.

Can’t say he’s wrong. Both played out of control at multiple times in the game for bad turnovers.

Starting out missing a bunch of wide open shots didn’t help either.

sears is a liability outside the stat sheet in his deficiency. with this roster he should have twice as many assists...probably less points aka shooting to much. we have plenty of scorers we dont need an allen iverson. his assist totals this year are terrible for the style we play. but his hot shooting has won us a TON of ball games over the years. A TON. all time bama basketball player

He didn't say anything wrong. Mark Sears, especially, has been a turnover machine all year. He doesn't need to sugar coat shite for these guys. Only way to get better is admit to your problems and Sears has a major problem with turnovers.

Sears had two assists in 31 minutes and technically he was tied with Philon who played almost 10 fewer minutes.

Getting 2 assists in 31 minutes from your all American PG isn’t good, especially when he was 1:1 with his assist to turnover ratio.

It means he was being very ball centric without creating opportunities for his teammates within the offense or off the dribble penetration.
quote:

SEARS WAS TEAM LEADER IN POINTS

He was 4/17 from the field and 2/11 from 3. Again, that’s 23% from the field. People who shoot 23% from the field are having a very bad night by any objective measure.

He was far and away the least efficient scorer on either team yesterday while simultaneously having the lowest defensive efficiency for any starter on either team.

I like Mark Sears, but he is really struggling with the way other teams with perimeter length are able to body him on the pick and roll and hasn’t been able to adjust.

As for the rest you’re either trolling or too emotionally involved to have an intelligent discussion with.

Who would’ve ever thought that an Alabama basketball coach would live rent free on this board.

Turnovers are one thing, poor efficiency is another. Sears got his 18 points on 17 shots. Denver Jones put up 16 on 9 shots. They played the same minutes. Sears also didn't do much for his team distributing the ball. He had just 2 assists. One-legged Johni Broome had six.

The Auburn defense didn't just run bama off of the three point line, they made life hell for that entire offense and anything Oats tried to run.
