I'm not buying Shawn Watson. I think it's a smokescreen.
If Auburn can't get a top coach, it's a sign the guys at the top are still way too involved for a good coach to work under the good ol boy network in place.
At least it's something for the fans to get excited about.

Gogue also told the trustees to whom he talked that he plans to retain athletics director Jay Jacobs

If Chiz goes Jacobs should be gone also. What has Jacob's done for the AU athletic department, nothing. Give me one sport at AU right now that is competitive besides swimming???

Well there go my years as a student watching football if this is true. What a crock of shite.

What on earth has Jacobs done to remain employed by AU?

If the President of the University is involved in the search, there is little to no chance he will attach himself to Petrino
I think Gouge's contract is up in 2013 and there are rumors that he's not coming back so he might not care.
It might really be Petrino.

I wouldn't be so trusting of PM.
Chizik was gone after Vandy game from everyone I know. The question is who will replace him and we aren't going for anyone as low on the pole as the one PM mentioned.

I've read on other boards that Bo Pelini's name is a possibility. Many think Pelini's days are numbered at Nebraska.
Anyway, just another name to add to the rumor of names being floated around.
