That popped in my head, too. That song has always reminded me of Pink Floyd for some reason?

Whoah there... You start applying game-theory to games, and I'm leaving.

That dude is creepy looking. Reminds me a little of "Bob" from Twin Peaks.

Not to knock Bama, but my experience has been that they seem to have a larger radical fringe than other teams. I've pondered why this might be, and I have no answer.
I don't think they're much larger. I just think the ones that do speak, speak loudly and often do really really stupid things in public (examples: Harvey Updyke, Bill Curry brick thrower). I also think that the great silent majority of Bama fans give rival fans and others in general too much credit for realizing that this fringe is a very small group. Rival fans, on the other hand, are all too happy to claim that the Harvey Updyke's are the norm. Ironically, the same Alabama fanbase that gets ridiculed for being obssessive of the program are the least likely alums of an SEC school to call in sports talk shows.
I should clarify my comments about the "lunatic fringe" Bama fans too. I think the attitude of just wanting to get the game won and over with more than actually enjoying the process of those wins is more pervasive among Alabama fans (and fans of a lot of big time winning programs) than just the lunatic fringe. Yes, that comes from unhealthy arrogance and entitlement but it is what it is. Bama home games are actually much louder and less tense in years we aren't any threat to make a BCS bowl game.

It's alright Bama fans, I wouldn't mind a rematch in the Dome but it will probably only make matters worse for you.

It should be added that Alabama Football (and now AU included) is one of the few 'success stories, in a relatively unsuccesful state. Now I am not saying Alabama is in economic fail, or that they are Mississippi. But avenues of escapism are few and far in between. It is understandable that support for and fanaticism for the team is expressd a little more here than in other college football cultures

1973 - Notre Dame 24, Alabama 23
I threw up on the living room floor. I was 12 so I hadn't been drinking. It messed me up for about a week.

you can say this about most SEC states, including Louisiana.

The game was won by a field goal in overtime and neither team scored a touchdown.
A defensive wet dream if you ask me.
Now if Alabama comes out flat against Miss State and somehow loses, that would hurt.

Damn man
Sure hated to see that game lost but I can name you about 10 Bama losses right off the top of my head that hurt a whole lot worse.

You are 8-1. Your only loss is to the #1 team in the nation by a FG in OT. You will very likely win out and finish the regular season 11-1, and have a real chance of making the big game.

no, not really. we have pro sports here also. saints, hornets, triple A baseball team. In NOLA there is plenty to do that there is not in tuscaloosa or Birmingham. cannot say it about georgia or florida either. or tennesse. maybe carolina, kentucky, mississippi, r-kansas though

Hey, X, just going through a couple of your pre-game posts and these two sort of jumped out at me:
"I will never understand why ties were allowed in college football. I went to see Manchester United and Tottenham play in Manchester and the score after 90 minutes was 0-0. I was pissed."
"...it'll be like after Florida. No excuses, just a clear victory this time."
