re: It seems like Bama fans are finally starting to accept that Kiffin is better than Deboer

That speaks to the coach.
As I said, it speaks to Saban not getting and/or being able to keep the quality assistants in his last few years. We had players recruited and developed by people like BoB etc. Defensively we transitioned very well.

Saban was gone, but yeah use the GOAT as an excuse for the current coach.
And now I realize I wasted my time above because you can't follow the conversations.

It's a difference of 4 ranking spots, which isn't that bad when you consider what both inherited.
I realize you're trying to frame it as this vast difference but it's just 4 ranking spots.
It's a matter of making the playoffs or not.
Even under a 12 team playoff, BK wouldn't have made the playoffs because of his regular season losses. He always had at least 3.
If you have a season with just 2, you can make the playoffs.
That's why regular season games mean more, and why/how they are cheapening the regular seasons importance by adding more teams.
If we still had the 4 team playoff, then the standard is high enough neither of them make it. So you claim 4 spots isn't much, but it's actually a lot when the playoff cut is between them.

And now you're sucking off DeBoer while people are saying it's a bad hire.
But you can't give an actual good reason why he is a bad hire. I don't know the future, I just know you can't give a real reason presently.
BK had an obvious ceiling. That's what people said when you hired him, that's what people said until you fired him. He constantly threw players and coaches under the bus rather than take responsibility. Was disconnected from the program, etc.
So what makes him bad?

Bama spent an estimated $42million in NIL this year. LSU spent similar. Both have 2 losses. Only one had more than half the team, with a QB who had no spring, trying to gel.
Did you just quote 2 different sources for the same stat, while using the extreme end on Alabama to pretend like they were the same?

This may actually be one of the most delusional copes ever uttered on this site.
And that's really saying something.
You all celebrated the mass exodus when Saban retired, now act like nobody left.
BK was hired in late November? DeBoer was hired in mid Jan.
The biggest difference is Alabama fans don't pretend like the incoming class wasn't part of the roster.

Lane and Kane are basically the same coach, except one cares a lot more about playing to the Finebaums and Stephen A. Smiths of the world.

I don't think he's a bad hire, he was the best option available, just like BK.
We defended BK and made excuses for him because of that, for at least his first three seasons. That's where you are right now.

All of the revisionist history regarding the roster DeBoer inherited is pretty interesting. For the record, many Alabama posters here didn't really think it was that bad prior to the season. There were a whole lot of 12-0, 11-1, and 10-2 predictions.
I went back and found TideSaint's prediction thread:

You in 2024:
Now, we're pretending DeBoer was given a trash roster.
Spin away.
quote:
Les Miles won a National Championship with the program Saban built, so a national championship wouldn't be crazy to think is possible.
quote:
Same deal with DeBoer. If he doesn't win games, it's not because he lacked talent, it's on him.
quote:
Nobody is going to be dumb enough to sit around and pretend like DeBoer took over a roster of less than 60 and had to build it back up.
Because it's bullshite.
quote:
It would be like Alabama fans claiming DeBoer arrived at Alabama with only 50 scholarship players and pretending he had build the entire program as an excuse for shitty results.
quote:
All those transfers and stuff happened on BK's watch. They are all kids he wasn't able to maintain. They all choose to NOT play for BK.
quote:
Following Saban is a blessing. Les Miles did it at LSU, and everything you dumbasses claim about DeBoer was even more true for him. He was a Michigan guy who coached a few years at OkSt. Only instead of building a national championship contender, he ran a .500 record in the Big12. No SEC ties, not a good recruiter, etc.
And still Les Miles won a NC with the program Saban built.
What sucks is trying to be at a place like Florida that has had multiple coaches fail to build anything.
DeBoer has everything he needs and couldn't be in a better position. If he fails it's on him. The only thing that might not be on his side is fan expectations, but if you can't deal with that, don't take the job to start with.
Now, we're pretending DeBoer was given a trash roster.
Spin away.

You just went and took shite out of context. I even mentioned earlier in this thread that the big difference was Alabama fans didn't pretend the existing class wasn't coming in, thus never "under 50".
But you are trying to use that same quote out of context for an entirely different story.
And your last paragraph you quoted was in reference to him not being of the SEC. But you've once again taken it completely out of context.
But at any rate - he is an has been given everything he needs and everything I said there has held true, right down to fans have dumb expectations.
Not to mention he hasn't failed at all.
You are so fricking pathetic at times.

Kiffin inherited nothing at Ole Miss or LSU.
Kalen took the job after the regular transfer portal ended and a 30 day fire sale of his roster started. They have since changed the rule.
