absolutely not. Chivalry is a taught and learned societal trait. Most of the world doesn't bat an eye at a female getting hit, so this is not a human nature thing.

Simmons needed to learn how to act. Let's hope he has

So the person who started this thread is a terrible person but the guy who beat a woman on the ground is a great guy who made a mistake. Ok. Look, props to the kid for making the most of his 2nd chance, but anyone who could do something like that is still a waste of space. Michael Vick has done great since being given a 2nd chance, but he’s still a piece of shite for what he did with regards to killing and fighting dogs. That woman had zero chance to defend herself against him. Imagine if that was your daughter or wife. Maybe he truly is sorry and wants to be a better person. Or maybe he was advised that the only way he can keep playing football was if he apologized. If that video hadn’t been released and his future was threatened, do you think he would have apologized to her? Hopefully he would have but I don’t think you can positively say yes.

And to the guy who said other societies don’t bat an eye at something like that, think about how the rest of the civilized world refers to them. Animals, barabarians, Neanderthals, etc...

All that said, he’s a hell of a football player so the majority of the people, including the nfl will forgive him.

Eh, I don't know - Mixon's was pretty bad. None of them have been good.

I'm sure it will pop up, but for whatever reason there seems to be a "keep an eye on him but no harm done" policy towards these things when they happen in or before college.

Either way, I'm guessing it gets the "this happened as a 17 year old, look at how he grew up in college, we've talked to everyone and he's an adult now" treatment.

Imagine if that woman was on top of your daughter or wife, hitting her. Because that is what happened immediately before Simmons pulled the woman off his sister and hit her.

I didn't say it as a judgement of right or wrong. I was giving the example of how our view of protecting females is not simple human nature.

Simmons actions were a result of poor training and environment, not the result of an innate character flaw

Do you mean the Joe Mixon that was that was shoved and slapped by the woman first. That is the part that people always seem to forget about.

Maybe I watched the wrong video, from what I saw Simmons’ sister was standing and the other girl was on the ground? Do I have that wrong? Props to Simmons tho, after he beat the woman he stopped his sister after she kicked the girl a few more times and pushed her back down.

I’m sorry, some things just aren’t forgivable. This is not an MSU issue. Joe mixon has no Business being on a college campus, we’ve had players who shouldn’t have been allowed to at ole miss. If the SEC had a zero tolerance rule for this and didn’t allow a bama or ole miss etc.. to recruit someone like Simmons if MSU took away his scholarship, it would help these schools make the right decision
