re: Former Alabama RB Josh Jacobs Arrested for DUI

dui charge was changed to something along the lines of reckless driving.
With, just, a decent lawyer, that's fairly standard in Nevada for a DUI not resulting in serious injury or death. You still have to complete all of the requirements: fine, classes, panel, blowing device, and license suspension, but it will show up as a reckless on your record. I dated a woman that blew over 2.5x the limit, she paid total for everything around 10K and did not receive a DUI conviction.
You can also get your traffic tickets lowered to parking violations with no points. There are lawyer offices that only handle traffic violations. It's big business.
re: How many points does losing a player like Dickerson cost us per game?

My guess is 0. A great offensive lineman in the National Football League is worth about .4, so I'm guessing that losing Dickerson will do nothing to the spread.

I think that his coming-off-of-a-major-knee-injury season has made you forget that he was an animal. Typically, it's 9 - 12 months just to start playing again, and about 1 full season before that person feels fully comfortable playing at full speed.
Sadly, Moses has never really lived up to his billing, although it hasn't been all his fault. He's been solid, but nothing more.

Indeed! Both administrations hate sports. We had Sandy Barbour, who tried to do everything she could to run the athletic programs into the ground.
Including, allowing the baseball team to fold, had it not been saved through donations, and continually running a yearly deficit in the athletic budget.
UCLA has always been a basketball and Olympic sports school.
Both schools would rather focus on academics.

He's terrified of contact. You can tell by how he chops his feet when it is time to engage. I had a coach that would say, "I can teach you how to tackle, but I can't teach you to tackle."

Ole Miss will score points next week. Mac Jones and company better be ready for a track meet.
I doubt it. Ole Miss put up points on an overrated Florida team and a bad Kentucky team. I'd take Lane Kiffin in the match-up vs Golding, but I believe that it will be Bama by 4 touchdowns and Ole Miss does not hit 30 points, again.

That's fine, too. I know a place that makes great oxtail, conch fritters, and yuca fritters.

Oh shite, TS. You sound like you're a native of Santa Monica, ready to drive an electric vehicle to escape the fires in your backyard or the impending mudslides that follow. Go ahead and make the move. I'll welcome you with a trip to the best Vietnamese restaurant on the West Coast.

quote:I'm not sold on Washington. They have spurts, but they've been too inconsistent. They were awful when I was in school, and then Tosh went up there and they started recruiting on a different level but still an average team. Nebraska has been awful since Solich refused to adapt. I'd love to see them turn it around. Coach Osborne and Coach Darlington are two of my favorite coaches, ever.
Washington can be a great job.

The administration seems hell bent on pushing that team to mediocrity. USC is the best job in the PAC-12, and it's not close.
Nebraska is a great place, but relying on what worked 20 - 30 years ago is killing that program. I remember going on my visit, they were the first to use field turf in their facilities, plus they were years ahead of other schools with their nutrition and exercise physiology programs.

This isn't normal. And it's not all western states. It's unique to locations where change in electricity sources was mandated before the technology existed to support it.
So? What is your point? Are you looking for an energy debate? I don't work in that realm, nor do I care. When I need lights, I press the switch. If it's hot, I turn on the air conditioner. If it makes you feel better, I have rental property with solar panels.
From what I know, power companies in California, Nevada, Arizona, Utah, and New Mexico have sent out these types of advisories, especially, during heat waves. I should have stated Southwestern US. Either way, it will not influence my view of California.

It's more of a nuisance. I was in Santa Cruz, last year, when PG&E started the blackouts. It's more due to their failing and antiquated infrastructure than it is to prevent the fires. Plus, it typically only affects the rural areas. I went to meet some people in an area named Santana Row in Silicon Valley, which has their own power grid, and it was life, as usual.

Isn't that a tweet about voluntary energy conservation during a heatwave? Doesn't seem so awful.
The list is sent out every year by the power companies in the Western US.
Consecutive days in the 100s plus wildfires:
Here are some effective ways to conserve energy during this time period:
Turn off lights
Turn off pool pumps
Unplug appliances not in use
Avoid using large electrical appliances such as dishwashers, washing machines and electric clothes dryers
Adjust the thermostat to 78 degrees or higher to reduce the use of air conditioning during this time, barring any medical issues, and use ceiling fans to cool people and pets. Pre-cool your home prior to 2 p.m.
Keep the refrigerator and freezer closed as much as possible
Close window coverings to keep the heat out
Do not charge electric vehicles between 2 and 9 p.m.

Cali with a 90% tax rate on fire and in the ocean still beats out a good part of the union for me.
Even with all of those issues, my quality of life is high. I can go hiking, to the beach, pull out the KTM, watch a live playoff game, and finish it off with one hell of a night at the Foundation Room. :pimp: Plus, the industry in which I work is predominately New York, New Jersey, Eastern PA, or California. I'm getting taxed no matter where I live.

California is light years away from Alabama economically. The problem with Cali are taxes, regulations, and social stuff. But even with the higher taxes & regulations, Cali is still on another planet as us economically.
That's in spite of everything that you stated. California is, also, a much larger state with more major cities, 40 million people, closer proxmity to JAPAC for international business, more natural resources, more major corporations, and numerous top 100 universities that send graduates into society to create economic gains. Look at just a few of the industries in California: maritime, film oil, agriculture, banking, IT, mining, and the list goes on. That's the difference, economically.

I live in California. The same can be said for this state, also. It has been, largely, Liberal for the past 30 years, and the state is becoming unbearable. A number of large corporations have left for TX over the past few years.

There's an inverse. I have reached out to numerous "Black" groups to get involved and my efforts have been met with silence. I have, also, been to meetings and have been met with looks of befuddlement. I'm not saying that Republicans or Democrats are perfect, but if the black vote were unnecessary for election, the Democratic platform would be, vastly, different.
In the words of Charles Barkley, "...only talk to black people every four years. All of these politicians only talk to black people every four years because they want their vote."
Also, "Black people have been voting for Democrats their whole life, and they’re still poor."

I agree. Based on historical perspective, the parties have changed, but if we're being realistic, most black people identify as conservative or moderate. Polls have shown that it is almost 70% combined. The truth is that most black people are Democrat because of societal pressures, not because the Democrat party has been a beacon of light for hope and justice. I'm neither Republican or Democrat, but my views are, certainly, not Liberal, yet, my friends that share my beliefs and values vote Democrat because that is what they believe they are supposed to do.
