Get. Rid. Of. Divisions. There is no need for them once the deregulation passes the NCAA.

I think it's time to admit that the east is just not as strong as the west, even in the long run. we need to even things up a might. it would be so damn easy to move Auburn to the east and Mizzou or Vandy to the west.

we also need to do something about this "rotation" shite. in order to protect certain teams interests (vast minority), the majority suffer and matches between some teams are so far apart that it's difficult to view them as being in the same conference. I submit this IS BAD FOR THE SEC in the long run. if we are going to keep 8 games, the way we're doing it is wrong. we need to do away with the notion that we must pacify a few teams or go to a 9 game schedule.

I have a feeling that when Saban retires, every Gump on here will become a history major.

The best suggestion I have seen so far is to keep divisions but change the teams in the divisions each year in order to accommodate more frequent trips to each school in the conference. Having a championship game without divisions is problematic when you don't have a clear #1 and #2 to play in that game.

Auburn and Alabama to the East.

Missouri and Vanderbilt to the West.

Get rid of permanent rivals.

All the problems are solved.

Move Missouri to the West, Auburn to the East. No more permanent rivals. Be done with it.

Wow .... that's the first time we've ever seen that around here. Thanks for joining and bringing new and fresh thought to the SECr! You'll go far. You should be a mod by July and probably make Board President by Christmas.

I'm still just in awe of your problem solving prowess and the command tone in your words. "Move Missouri to the West, Auburn to the East. No more permanent rivals. Be done with it." .... that was amazing. Thank you.

Ummmmmm .... no.

Think again. You'd lose the yin and yang of the conference by moving both Bama and Auburn to the East. You would, in essence, be creating the same problem on the other side of the conference.

Move Auburn to the East ... allow every team to keep one permanent rival.

Let's be honest here, once again for the 1000th+ time ... Bama is the problem. Bama wants to keep both Auburn and UT as permanent rivals - they want their cake and to eat it too especially since Tennessee has not beaten Bama in over a decade, or is it two decades?

Missouri has been the SEC East representative in the conference championships two seasons in a row. So how does that fix the problem by subbing out Auburn for most likely Missouri?

You send Auburn and Alabama east because they are part of the permanent rivalry problem anyways.

If the Western Division is sooo dominant how does subbing two good western division teams for one good eastern division team wrong. This also keeps the geographic split basically true.

So the East has UK and UT (additionally USC when they lose Spurrier) as its shitty teams and the West would have Vandy (and probably one of the Mississppi schools yearly) as its shitty team. Definitely the most fair solution that lets the rivalry relationships between UGA, UT, Bama, and AU still exist and allows the conference to get rid of permanent division rivals and realistically rotate the schedules more appropriately.

Bama Bias is the only reason keeping the office from doing this. If it were other programs involved they wouldn't give a damn.

I don't have a problem with eliminating the divisions. It has already happened in basketball. However, this logically leads to elimination of permanent rivalries and rotating through all the SEC teams in a balanced schedule. I really don't have a problem with that either. We will still play Auburn and Florida just less often.

So take the best team out of the East, and add it to the West to make the divisions more equal.....got it.

(FWIW, I agree with your suggestion)

Mizzou has reped the East by virtue of sheer luck ... they've been good, but don't try to make Mizzou into world beaters just yet. A lot of breaks have fallen their way.

.... and Mizzou is no Auburn, not by a long shot.
