Yep. The game has definitely changed and I don't like the direction its gone in. But I suppose that's just part of life. My dad and granddads probably griped about how the game was being ruined when the wishbone went away. Oh well.

I know exactly what I said. Saban adapted to survive, not because he liked what he was forced to become.
The rules of football are unbalanced now. Until balance returns, we have no choice but to play under those rules but we don’t have to like it.

There have to be rule changes that assist the defense. Football is a more interesting sport when the offense and defense are on equal footings.
The rule changes the past 20 years have dramatically titled the balance of power in favor of the offense and I don't think it's possible for defenses to simply adjust. They are kneecapped. Without rule changes it's just gonna be arena ball.

Obviously you don't. I said he moved on, you said he adapted.. Youre trying to fight against what I said by changing how he got to where I said he is now, either way, what's the difference?
He isn't running the same O he did years ago, whether you wanna say its because he adapted or changed or whatever, really is inconsequential.

An example of a coach who wouldn't or couldn't adapt. And he lost his job for it.
I second the notions about Saban. He's adapted. But I bed he wishes the rules would change to allow the defense to play defense.
Touchdowns aren't the thrill they used to be either. I did NOT enjoy the Ole Miss/Bama game this year. Defense is fun to watch too.

I’m with you.
It’s neat that nearly every team can drop fifty in a game, until nearly every team can drop fifty in a game. Defense is still a desirable part of the game, and the rules will have to adjust or it will become stale and pointless.

It’s Unfair!
I do get your point. Hopefully defenses will catch up.
I think the biggest change in the game is the amount of quality QBs and WRs coming out of HS and college.
These guys are ready to play now.
It wasn’t too long ago when rookie QBs and WRs took a few years to develope.

With the 7 0n 7s and HS teams running offenses like the Air Raid and Run and Shoot ect (Hal Mumme and June Jones now teach their systems to anyone who wants to take their corse for certification) Teens are way ahead by time they get to CFB.
Look at Rogers playing for State, son of a coach, team runs the Air Raid. Same school that G.Minshew came from.

Which is why he's the GOAT
And he’s managed to make this successful transition at an age when most college HCs are thinking more about whether they want to spend Thanksgiving at the lake house or with the grandkids.
ETA: and it should be mentioned that in this environment of explosive offenses, he managed to hand the originator of the most explosive of them his first career shutout.

Given what State was when He got there (Won 3 SEC games last yr) and is now (Starting 19 new players, most in Power 5) with no offseason. I cant use that as a measuring stick to prop Saban.

The rules of the clock stopping after a first down and linemen being allowed to block downfield lead to the college game being way looser than the NFL. There's a reason NFL games run 3 hours to 3:15, and NCAA games run 3:30 to 4 hours.

This is what Saban warned about and he was maligned by trolls who were saying the man was just pissed that his four and five star athletes were struggling against the HUNH and (later on) the RPO.
I think what we have seen is that, regardless of what we want football to be, Saban will excel at it. Want to pound the ball? He'll beat you with that. RPO? Want to throw it all over the field? He'll go get a Tua and four frisbee chasing dogs and still be in the playoffs.
If the wishbone came back into vogue, he'd throw it about five times a game while racking up 700 yards on the ground.

I think it’s time to have some rule changes for the defenses. Like allowing them to substitute up until the last two to four minutes of the half. The offense team can wait on these substitutes
And allow defensive backs to hand fight if the offensive player is initiating contact. If you are going to take away basically any kind of hit over the middle for to wr then let the d backs do,something else
It’s fricking ridiculous the crap wide receivers get away with.
Also as someone mentioned earlier quit letting linemen and others block downfield on passes
This type of football is garbage

He jokingly said this would happen eventually. And it will destroy defenses because all of the coaches who know how to stop it would be dead and defenses too light.

This is not good. Then defenses could take advantage and cause delays ect.

I don't see it changing. May wanna watch the Masters

Yea not a big fan of it either..but I'd rather be on the offensive train than off it. Its brutal being off it.
