@EricBlackerby: Gus Malzahn said that the reason Arkansas broke their SEC losing streak last week and they are playing harder is that they are well coached now. Arkansas’s coach before this season was Chad Morris, who is Gus’s offensive coordinator at Auburn now. Good job, Gustav.

please let this be real

Yes, and no. He said they are playing hard and that is a sign of good coaching. He did not say that they did not play hard last year, but I guess it is inferred.

“Well, what stands out to me is they’re playing extremely hard. When you get a team that’s playing extremely hard, I believe that’s coaching,” Malzahn said. “So hats off to those guys and they’re off to a very good start. And like I said, I think Sam (Pittman) is a football coach, he’s got those guys playing extremely hard.”

I think Gus went into coachspeak mode and just forgot that Morris was on his staff and coached Arkansas last year.

What does that say about his own team last Saturday? We all know the answer.

I was surprised, no doubt. I thought Auburn would catch us this year. I lean that Gus has lost the team now. Auburn needs a big win against LSU or Alabama to get anything back on track. It wasn't just the loss. It was how you lost.

Auburn has always (to me) been a hard nosed physical team. They did not look like it last Saturday.

I thought that we’d at least be competitive. We didn’t belong on the same field. It was embarrassing. But, it’s a movie that we’ve all seen before.

That's always been his saving grace, that the team is still behind him even when things don't go well on the field.

Save for the 2017 DSOR, we always seem to play our very worst game of the season against y'all.

Usually it's so late in the year we have a lot of good performances to judge it against. We'll probably know for sure if your analysis has merit by the end of October, after he's had opportunity to right the ship against what on paper appears to be three significantly less talented teams in Arky, SC and Ole Miss.

If we lose any of those three games I'd have to agree with you.

I was prepared to come in on Sunday and take a beatdown from Auburn fans. I really thought this was your year to beat us.

I have never seen an Auburn defense get pushed back as often or as far back as Saturday. I was shocked.

I know it's tough to go through. Maybe you guys can get past Gus and find a suitable replacement.

They looked undersized, under developed and overall weak. It was very uncharacteristic for and Auburn team to get pushed around.

You must not have seen the bowl game vs. Minnesota

A lot of other people don't like him. (Granted it is people from the Rant) but he has always seemed to be a likeable person to me.

You absolutely played a great game that day. While it's true that we shot ourselves in the foot with dropped passes and fumbles....I have always believed that a ton of mistakes are forced. I give Auburn all the credit for that game.

Here is a big key for you. He can make some adjustments and get back on track. It wouldn't surprise me to see you beat LSU, although I also think LSU is much better than a lot of people give them credit for, too.

If you lose any of those three games it will be worse than his losing the team. That would be some serious issues.

Ole Miss at least has a great offense....and I think Arky is on the right road, but still a long ways to go, and SC has a way of sneaking up on a team.

Don't bother. I'll never watch it again.

That was the biggest shock to me was the way their offense punched us in the mouth...and we had all of our studs back too. I had come to accept the offense looking like crap, but not the defense, not last year.

That was my thinking. I was wondering if they got a new S&C coach, but I think it was just a lack of good recruiting. Depth is a definite problem.
