The few times Alabama was behind that year, did they need him to put the team on his shoulders and lead a come back?

But did they win a NC without Ingram in 09 or richardson in 11'? NO 8-5 and 7-6 without them. DWI Saban sucks without great players

You mean the year he won his Heisman? Yeah you proved him wrong.

Probably not.

To be fair, he was probably the least deserving Heisman winner in a long time.

The key word phrase you used in your drunken retardedness was "great players." Saban wins with great players. Chizik won his national championship with the single greatest player to ever play football in the SEC. A player so good that he came into Carolina, an NFL team, and as a rookie, more than doubled that team's win total and offensive production.

We win our national championships anyway we can. Congrats. You won a national title in 2010. Well done! But don't think for a moment that national championship would have been possible without Cam Newton. Despite your horrible attempt at trolling, Alabama could have not had Mark Ingram in 2009 and Trent Richardson in 2011 and probably still would have competed for the BCS National Championship in each of those years. Why? Because of what you said...Saban had a great players. Not just a single player.

Let me put it to you like this. Alabama would have probably still won the national championship in 2009 without Mark Ingram.

Your defense may very well would have won the games for you, but without him, losses to Tenn, Va Tech and S Car were very possible.

I would say Auburn too, but he was really a non-factor in that game. Julio killed us in that one.

Of those three teams, Virginia Tech is your best argument. Ingram had less than 100 yards against Tennessee and Mark Barron's pick six in the South Carolina game were all the points we needed in that game.

But did they? Without Ingram no NC in 09' without Richardson no NC in 11'.

See how easy it is to make statements about what if from the past that you have no way to prove

Oh I forgot, Cam played 1 on 11. Damn he is a NFL franchise all by himself

I couldn't agree more, but to say they would have won without him is really reaching in this case. It was still a very productive year for a RB. He was directly responsible for 20 TD's.

If we can improve on 3rd down defense this season, Chizik should be fine. Opponents converted more than 50% of 3rd downs against us last season. So far reports from spring practice is this trend has continued. Mostly because we lack play makers on D. Our LB corp is still really weak, has been so every year under Chizik. Recruiting bust in an area we could not afford to have bust.

Would have won the Clemson game with semi decent 3rd down D.

I really doubt that. We would have gone 10-2 or something without Ingram in 2009. We would have ended up 8-4 or 9-3 last season without Trent. Lacy was hurt most of the season and AJ was a first year starter.

Looking back, Auburn would have struggled to make a bowl game without Cam in 2010, considering what they had at QB behind him.

So while I think there is a difference, at the same time you can never take away a team's best player and expect there to be little, if any, drop off.

And just kept running the ball. Dyer was killing it. That game was horrid after the first half

Probably. But that game was as much Malzahn's falut as anything. He could not move the ball after the 2nd qtr.

True. He called a bad game that week.

I just remember like 3 3rd and longs with Clemson backed up against their own goal line that we let them convert.

Look, I like you NYCAuburn. I really do. And, I've been complimentary of Chizik in this thread and have talked about how ridiculous it is to even ponder a "make or break year" for him this year.

That said, you can't honestly believe that Bama was a 5+ loss team without Ingram or Richardson.
