This is the same school that kept Jordan on for 25 years despite the fact that he only won a single conference title in his entire tenure there. He did win a national title that same year though so I suppose that was the biggest reason for Auburn fans accepting such a long and somewhat uneventful tenure.
So long as Chizik wins 8 or 9 games a season, defeats Alabama every once in a while, and keeps a family atmosphere within the program, I anticipate him being there for a while.

Good to hear. His short list of replacements better include everyone on Saban's staff.
Nah, they are hiring Cam, Auburn is only relevant with Cam

hope this was just sarcasm (pretty sure it was ). If Auburn fired an BCSNC winning coach after 1 sub-par season and fires him mid-season that would screw them over bad. Nobody is going to want to take a job at a school that fires their coach who won them an NC.
It's not.

Doubling vegas projected win total is not subpar

They have been a little better under their new coach and have been what Iowa State typically is. They have won 6, 5 and 6 regular season games under Rhodes. It isn't much of a stretch to think they might have improved to those numbers under Cheezedick as well had he not gotten the AU offer.
If people will go back to the off season in which Chizik was hired they will see that most of the ISU beat writers and such predicte them to win 7-8 ballgames with the system Chizik put in place. The talent level was much different when Chizik let than when he got there.

The climate of CFB has changed since those days considerably. Those days are over for coaches ask Phil Fulmer at UT, oh wait.....

It's not BS. Aubie Spr96 is pretty big in the AD down there.

Yeah...and Tennessee fans accepted mediocrity for almost ten years after the national title in '98. Now they are mired in it.

Can't be serious, right? Whether you think it was "all Cam" or not, Chiz does have a BCSNC ring that's less than 2 years old. AU named their stadium after the last guy who won them a NC, they aren't going to fire the other guy who won an NC for 2 subpar years (or even 3 subpar years out of 4).
If he continues to win 8 games a year for the next two years then the seat is really hot in 2014. I think the earliest he could get fired is after the 2014 season...but I hope that doesn't happen.

Same here. So long as Chizik is at Auburn they will be nothing more than a nuisance on the recruiting trail and playing field. As of right now, he inspires no fear in the hearts of Southeastern Conference fans. I will say this for the guy though, he works his arse off on the recruiting trail. He doesn't make it easy for Saban like Tuberville did.

I find this hard to believe. He just won the first nat'l title in over fifty years for AU. Eight win seasons the next two years while playing in the SECW is more than 86% of CFB teams are capable of.
I think he is there for a while with 8-10 win seasons, as long as he doesn't keep getting blown out 2-4 times a year in the losses.
I don't think he'd be fired after that, but I think his seat would get rather hot. 10 wins is a huge difference than 8 wins. The problem now is that he's started to finally build some quality depth and we want to see improvement this year. All those very young guys we had last year now have some experience and improvement in their play will have to be seen for most folks to be happy.
As most people understand, the issue with the losses last year was not that they were losses, but that they were blowouts. After losing as many players as we did from the 2010 team, and having a ton of young, inexperienced players to work with, we expected some losses. We didn't expect them to just roll over in the those losses though.
With the quality we've gotten in the last three recruiting classes we've had, we expect some serious improvement this year and next year. There was an enormous talent gap when Chizik came to Auburn left by the very poor last two Tuberville recruiting classes. We're finally filling that gap.
Even if we win 8 games for the next two years, but still get blown out by the our biggest rivals like we did, that will be very hard for him to overcome. If we win say 8 this year and then 10 or more next year and show marked improvement, then I think most Auburn people will feel pretty confident in his coaching abilities. But if things stay the same with the kind of talent and depth we've started to build, then that will become an issue.

College football is an entirely different animal now than it was then.

If he gets fired, he's still got his tooth fairy money saved up. He'll be ok.

7 or 8 wins this year gets people restless. 7 or 8 wins the following year puts Chiz squarely on the hot seat. A 10 or more win season this year or next reinforces fan confidence.

Let's look at his record... 30 wins in 3 seasons, a BCSNC, an SEC title., three bowl wins (BCSNC, Outback, Chick-fil-a).. This after inheriting a team that had a losing records, lost to Vandy and beat MSU 3-2..... Great recruiting classes especially considering ALL of the circumstances..
IMHO, Myles would be on a hotter seat, he won a nattie by backing in with two losses, he followed that up with an 8-5 season (sound familiar)... Got beat bad by Florida 51-21, got beat bad by OLE MISS 31-13, Gave up 52 to Georgia, almost lost to Troy.
ONE final question, why is it always LSU and Bama fans so worried about Chiz?
