Uproot UGA and put it somewhere else and it's still successful. I mean Alabama is the best program of all time and look where it's located.
I doubt Georgia is successful if you put it in Idaho or West Virginia. Alabama is right in the middle of the South and within 3-5 hours of major recruiting areas. Location matters a lot

Tech may not win a natty but there is no reason they ought not be 8-4 or 9-3 every season. They’ll claim academics is crippling and Tech is a demanding academic institution but they have a business school. It’s not like everyone is a physics major. I have a friend who was an academic compliance official in the AD at Tech from the mid 80s to the late 90s….Tech fan through and through….and he says the academic angle is an excuse at ALL the programs that claim it’s what’s holding them back…. He says it’s an unwillingness to get student athletes the resources needed to succeed. Tech is in arguably the richest recruiting ground per capita in the US….metro Atlanta produces a lot of Div 1 CFB and nFL players. Tech has stupid money. They ought to never be as bad as they are most seasons.

Its almost like they think there are more important aspects of a university than football...
Weird.

Now, if Tech were to join the Big 10 & start giving some admission preference to state of Georgia residents? Could be possible It seems like Georgia high school students rarely plan to go to Tech right out of high school.
Most can’t get in. Unlike uga, GT is a highly prestigious university with real talent.

It hasn’t been that way for many years and academics is a bullshite excuse their fans like to use. They have built in degrees just like every other program in the nation.
Face it, uga is the third best school in Georgia, behind GT and Emory by a LONG shot.

Do you really think that football players at Tech go to class and maintain a 3.0 GPA, especially in the NIL era?
Read above. Found reject number 2.

Cool, that has nothing to do with your previous ignorant statement.

Texas Tech most likely with all their rich alumni
If you wanna use that as your measuring stick then Stanford would be the obvious answer. Only Harvard has more billionaire alumni and has more billionaire alumni than all the schools in Texas combined.

There is no reason that GT can’t be competitive. Academics is a crutch. ND is hard to get into. They’re competitive. GTs problem, if they have one, is they really don’t care to be competitive. If they did they have all of the resources and opportunity to get high quality athletes, provide the resources needed to see that they are academically successful enough to remain eligible and be competitive. They choose not to do so and hide behind academics when taken to task for that choice. There is nothing wrong with that, GT is a helluva school and a massive contributor to the Georgia and the nations economy. It’s what the first order of business should be for an institution of higher learning.

Is there a state university in the US that is not behind private and engineering schools in state? At any rate being third in the state, academically, behind GT and Emory ain’t a knock against UGA….GT and Emory are among the best Universities in the world. UGA has a different mission than either.

That’s a very mature response. I respect it. And thank you.

There are more important things for certain. That’s why GT is not competitive….its a choice. It’s not academics….there are programs who are successful who have similar academic restraints. The academic excuse is just that. Nothing wrong with not being competitive but lying about why is a bad look. Given the current state of CFB and the numerous “bad looks” in CFB I seriously think more schools emulated GT than not….at all Universities are far more responsible for driving revenue….research is infinitely more important at all universities than athletics. Universities are also ran and managed by people from the world of academics….there is always tension between the 2….and the side that drives the money, academics, is going to always win, and rightfully so. The AD at UGA, for example, is a nice PR rep for the University, but at the end of the day the science department pays more of the bills.
