Is there a harder college baseball stretch this season than what UGA is facing?

We have a whole world of shite quickly approaching:

- Our next 19 games are against opponents in the current top 25 rankings
- 12 of those 19 games are against opponents in the current top 5
- All 3 series against the current top 3 are on the road

And you wonder why our record is what it is and yet our RPI remains tourney worthy:

vs #14 Clemson

@ #1 A&M
@ #1 A&M
@ #1 A&M

@ #25 Georgia Tech

vs #5 USCe
vs #5 USCe
vs #5 USCe

@ #14 Clemson

@ #2 UF
@ #2 UF
@ #2 UF

vs #25 Georgia Tech

@ #3 Vandy
@ #3 Vandy
@ #3 Vandy

vs #13 Ole Miss
vs #13 Ole Miss
vs #13 Ole Miss

Anyone got anything more difficult than this? We just finished up our best series of the season against Bama but I'm very pessimistic about how the next few weeks are going to go simply due to the level of competition.

The Gators have to scrimmage against themselves every day of the week.

Wow that is a ridiculous stretch. SEC baseball is a gauntlet.

I'd shed a tear, but everyone in the SEC plays everyone eventually, plus UF's non SEC schedule is filled with other ranked opponents, like FSU, Miami, FAU and other very good Florida teams

We won't be ranked by then, so there's that for you.

probably not. but it's your own damn fault. if UGA would hire a top notch coach and improve recruiting it would be they that fear you instead of the other way around. i'm sorry that the truth hurts.

you are in the middle of the most fertile baseball ground in the country (imo of course). the Carolina's, Georgia and Florida produce an amazing amount of talent and the schools from Miami to UNC take advantage of it.

in baseball the SEC east is a tough place to compete; your school ducks it.

I'm setting the over under at 8.5 wins.

Scott Stricklin is in his third year and while his results have been rather underwhelming to this point, he was a pretty good hire by all accounts (took Kent State to the CWS and 5 NCAA regionals, won the MAC 7 out of 9 years, was an assistant at both Tech and Vandy, etc). Recruiting has improved from the dumpster fire David Perno left us with but, you're right, it's not where it could/should be given the program's history and location.

What are you talking about? We have a strong SOS, we just completed a large renovation of Foley Field with plans to expand the stadium further, and we're one of the top programs in the SEC historically.

That's a rough stretch indeed, though I'll add I don't think any of us have a particularly easy go of it in this conference. Even the "bad" teams are capable of taking a series any given weekend.

We will be lucky to still have a winning record after this stretch. If we can't beat mercer at home, we aren't beating top 5 teams on the road.

I have little hope we come out with winning records during the Tuesday games; Mercer was able to beat us largely because our midweek pitching is hot garbage. If Jones and Tyler keep throwing like they have been (and if we have the sense to plug Tucker in as our third arm on the weekend) then I think we can at least be competitive during the weekends

Everyone does not play everyone else. You only 10 of the 13 teams in any given year.

yes. I believe 23 of Arkansas' last 26 games are against ranked opponents.

The SoS is stupid tough in SEC baseball and when you schedule ranked OOC opponents mid-week that's a slate that most teams pee their pants thinking of playing.

Depends on what night you catch us, really. We have the potential of a pretty solid team but our midweek pitching is pretty woeful and our bats have a tendency to take games off now and again. In other words, UGA can beat Clemson but I'm not about to put money on it

that's all I meant. look, I like UGA, I really do. I lived in Atlanta and have a number of friends there that are huge Dog fans. Georgia was the first SEC team to win a natty in baseball (1990) and just seemed to go downhill after that.

what I meant by ducking baseball is NOT emphasizing it. you will always have a strong SOS playing in the east, which has some damn good clubs. I am glad to see you have renovated your park and hope the fans increase their interest.

if you coach keeps improving recruiting y'all should get back to a top program. I hope you do.
