The West has been the much noticably stronger division since Saban arrived at Alabama and Meyer departed Florida.

There is no doubt that the West is the stronger division and has been for several years. My premise was more that the East is no more down than it usually is, you just aren't used to seeing the team that's currently on top.

Also the worst case scenario for the East is occurring with FSU, Clemson and Miami all coming back to life.

I actually think that's more UF's problem than the East's. The last time that happened it was good news for the rest of us.

That's because we're not.

I agree with this. The east is seen as being "down" because Tennessee has been replaced with USC as one of the primary contenders for the division. Some of the traditionalists think that the division is crap *simply* because the names on the helmets have changed.

Mizzou has been added to the mix, and so now you have a four-team race in the east, while only two of the teams in the race (and the weakest of the field down the stretch, it appears) are "traditional" powers.

Until the East, or particularly USC/Mizzou wins the SEC Championship, you'll get the perceived notion that the East is weak. And even then, the victory is just a fluke.

Just how it is.

We haven't really been that since the 90s. There have been a 2-3 down years but generally we've been around 10-12 wins.

Yes, the east is "down" relative to the west, but these things go in cycles. The cycle will move back in the other direction soon enough.

That's more UF's (and to a lesser extent USCe's problem). It's not a huge thing either. Those programs have always gotten players, even when they've struggled. There's a lot of talent to go around in Florida, Georgia, and the Carolinas. If anything, it may even wake the East teams up.

Florida Tennessee and georgia are the east in manual eyes. If they are down, the east is down. It's really that simple. Not saying It's fair, but It's reality.

I would say so.

Preseason AP poll had UGA 5th, SC 6th, FL 10th, and Vandy even got some votes for the top 25 but they didn't quite make the cut.

The three teams that have routinely competed for the East division were poised to continue the trend this season but the injury bug bit us and now we have to read Mizzou posters talking about how they are just a superior program this year.

Why do people say Miami is back. They almost lost to Wake freaking Forrest and should have lost to UF. FSU is going to destroy them.

This. Clemson as well. Once Tajh Boyd, Sammy Watkins, and Chad Morris (likely) leave after this season, they're back to square one.

The East is down. I'm not sure how Mizzou fans don't see this. They say they don't care but keep making threads about it. Weird.

In the last 5 years, only 2012 had the East finish with more ranked teams than they currently have. Only one other year did the East finish with 2 ranked teams and they weren't ranked as high as Miz and USC currently are. If the East is down, it is has been for years, not just this year and it has nothing to do with injuries. But continue to ignore the facts I guess...
