Is TAMU's objection to Texas really about recruiting?

They've had the luxury of saying to Texas recruits that want to stay in state "You want to play against the best competition in the SEC, you come to TAMU" as a recruiting tool.

With Texas in the mix, that gives recruits in state options.

Of course that’s an issue.

Doesn’t negate the cancer thing.

I think Arkansas has put up with Texas the most besides A&M and has the most Texas fans, and I think the hesitance is the shitty Texas fans and them taking their ball and going home over the years, just real crybaby stuff.

It's literally the only reason, despite what some might be saying on here.

Some. The other 65% is simply going to work on Monday after a loss and be mercilessly ridiculed. If they're honest about it.

They voted to admit them.

You should give them props for being kind to the less fortunate.

It is certainly a reason, though judging by the recruiting efforts of both schools not much of a reason ... But I'm old enough to remember just how terrible the burnt orange and their Wal-Mart crowd that never stepped foot in a classroom are

Look forward to beating the crap out of them, though. They aren't remotely ready for the SEC

Every team looks for an edge in recruiting. Being only SEC in the state was an advantage. Texass themselves freely admitted this. Having the LHN was supposed to be a huge advantage. That’s why Texass did that.

Not sure why imbeciles on this board thought A&M ought to willingly give up a recruiting advantage. No SEC school would do that and Texass would certainly never do it willingly.

Lots of discussion on this board about LHN. It was a flop but things could have been different had Ags not challenged it. People forget Texass planned to show high school football games on it. Yes, key recruit targets would have been on TV. Ags challenged it and Texass had to scrap it.

The difference between 2021 and 2011 is Texass no longer has a massive advantage in terms of money, facilities, and salaries for coaches. Those days are over thanks to the last decade in SEC.

Texas has:
- Better recruiting
- More money
- Better facilities
- Better academics
- Better program historically

The SEC was the ONLY thing Texas Jr. had over Texas.

Now they have nothing!

Texas might have more revenue but they are underwater and way less profitable.

Texas A&M’s facilities are light years ahead of the Longhorns. Not even close. Weight rooms practice facilities etc.

As far as academics, both are AAU so it’s a matter of what your desired major is. If you want to do communications, law, etc go to Texas. Engineering and veterinary sciences go to Texas A&M.

That LHN idea to put HS games (and focus on longhorn commits) was shady stuff. It was not made public when the LHN was disclosed to the conference. It was only made known accidentally during an interview with the program director. After the uproar, they came clean and said they wouldn’t do if it wasn’t allowed.

I don't think it's that effectual. Seems like on-field performance is what moves the meter more.

Certainly recruiting was a concern but after last weekend's Pool Party that has faded quickly, also looks like we are about to win a H2H with Bryce Anderson. Could it be long term? Maybe, but the reality is that Texas as a state produces an obscene amount of talent (I believe 9 5 Stars this year with a ridiculous amount of 4 Stars) so it's really not that big of an issue, especially with Jimbo increasingly recruiting nationally.

The biggest thing is definitely the bad business partner issue and their off the charts arrogance and scheming. The SEC was also "our thing" and we thoroughly enjoyed being separated from Texas.

Oh, and it was not about some "fear" of playing them. We didn't want to play them OOC because it benefitted them more than us and we enjoyed rubbing it in after they turned us down when we initially left thinking that by saying they wouldn't play us if we left that we would stay. Watching them practically beg every year or two for the game back while they played Tech and TCU and Baylor on Rivalvy weekend was delicious as we played LSU. You had folks that also hated B12 officiating that always favored the sips. Hell the game itself as an SEC game is going to be a blast from a fan perspective.
