Arkansas had a secondary and line backer corp made up of 3 walk-ons and 3 former 2*s. Both starter DEs and one back up De were out for the game.
Don't pretend LSU's talent level is to blame for going up over 600 yards passing.

It wasn't talent. 100% on coaching.
Edit: I take it back. Stingley would have for sure helped lol.

I’ll give Pelini a pss this year due to the youth movement at LSU, but next year if he still sucks, he’s gotta to go!

There's never been a position group as depleted and inexperienced in the first game for LSU as CB was vs MSU. With some more time to practice, maybe they could've installed different coverages though

I would have tend to agreed but Bo literally didnt make any adjustments.

Against MSU, this is who LSU had available at CB:
Darren Evans, a transfer from Nicholls State who had been on campus for two weeks. Got burned repeatedly
Elias Ricks, 5* true fr, he played pretty well
Jay Ward, 3* sophomore who played a little last year
Cordale Flott, 3* soph who played a good bit last season
Dwight Mcglothern, 4* true fr. I don't think he played vs MSU
Raydarious Jones, 4* soph, I don't think he played vs MSU
I agree but LSU did have Todd Harris, Stephens, and Hampton all Safeties who played last year. And Again, I loved the Bo hire when O did it and still do. But I still think during August LSU could have taught some basic 2 Deep Zone principles with LB's playing zone in the middle and Corners playing some softer man.
Arkansas did it in 1 week between the UGA game, which they were playing run fit defense and then next week Air raid offense and 3 man front with 8 in coverage.
We had 5 star Stephens at Safety and 4 star's Todd Harris and Mo Hampton.

Considering this the only conclusion is Pelini is the worst DC in the SEC
quote:otherwise known as facts. first game. shorthanded secondary. state has good wr's and a pass happy coach. it was a recipe for disaster

It’s obvious you didn’t watch much LSU football under Aranda

Aranda wasn't what I would call great necessarily

Jay Ward, 3* sophomore who played a little last year

You should go take a look at where his defenses finished statistically every season.

quote:so statistics is the deciding factor? this thread has a bunch of 5 year olds in it. aranda is about as good as it gets. he's had great defenses at multiple schools. he's got the track record. when he was hired from wisky he was widely regarded as elite. but keyboard warriors who have basically nothing to do with the profession know his stats
