Multiple news outlets disagree with you.

Wow. And I had decided to pull for the Aggies the rest of the way...never mind.

This one actually says 3rd. It’s as if May 2025, so it could be more updated I assume. But either way, they’re up there

I am not sure what will settle out to a top 5 job in this era. It is too soon to tell.

That list is not best jobs, it is schools with the most current players in the NFL. Shows how little BK has been doing with his resources.

And yes, it is a top job in college football. Maybe in this new era not as high as it was just 10 years ago, maybe slipped a few spots, but certainly top 10 if not top 5.

Notre Dame was a top 5 job in the 70's. Not anymore. Maybe 10/12

If you didn't have to risk your family's lives living in Baton Rouge, maybe.

They're one of the more successful programs over the last 25 years.

If you rank it by nattys in that time period it'd go like this

Bama
Ohio State
LSU
Clemson
Florida/Georgia

Prior to Saban’s arrival LSU’s all time winning pct was 62%, which was 17 in the nation. Looking at the stassen list I’d say it’s about the 10th to 13th ranked job.

Yeah but unlike A&M, they win nattys at LSU.

Zero from 1959 to Saban’s arrival.

Really, to answer this question, you have to define your terms. What is a top job? What are your criteria? Some coaches might choose Florida over Notre Dame because they weight everything else equally, but they hate winter.

Criteria probably include, but are not limited to...

Salary and benefits
Administrative support
Fan support
Quality of life
NIL support

And there are probably others.

Administrative support has to be more than just lip service. No coach ever had stronger admin support than Saban, from the moment he stepped off the plane. You have to give the coach whatever he wants financially, you have to give him unrestricted control in running the program, and you have to be willing to tell any booster who doeesn't like something to go pound sand.

In state talent and proximity to talent.

Fair statement prior to NIL and especially the transfer portal era.

But, there is a much bigger market of proven and available (for a price) resources out there than ever before.

The developmental concept is dying. Hs studs will still hold value, but a lot of recruiting effort is shifting to watching small school diamonds in the rough or big school opportunistic minded talent before offering $$$.

I think it depends.

If LSU does everything it can to not pay Kelly what they are contractually obligated to pay him, it drops from a top 5 to at best top 20. Agents will see that and coaches will wonder if, in order to get paid, they’ll have to sue LSU to get it.

I’m going to push back on nd Florida Texas and Oregon. And maybe usc

Tex-it’s a tough job for a lot of coaches. Like nick saban Pete Carroll Kirby smart absolutely top tier job. But you need a lot of clout to walk in Tex and start telling big time donors to stfu and let you cook. I think it’s why they largely underperform.

Nd-very tough to get elite talent vetted there, they recruit nationally with little regional talent which means lots of time on the road.

Florida- share a state with miami who has the most clout in so fla, and fsu(little bro but prob has more clout nationally)

Oregon- fans are rabid but no a massive amount, will possibly dry up after Phil knights too old or gone.
