Michigan probably would have cheated to win. That was a physically dominating team. That would have been a better title game than UW, who got punked.

Smart is an identical to slight better version of Saban. Both of their styles no longer works in the era. They won by stacking talent deep and winning on talent. Without NFL talent and elite staffs, they can't play bully ball anymore and have to actually coach. Smart would be wise to retire while he still has a semi-elite coaching rep. It will only go down from here.

You’re describing Dabo Swinney. Both Smart and Saban possess elite defensive systems. Their down years are typically offensive shortfalls in the skill positions. Saban corrected that issue later in his career, whereas Kirby did get lucky with Stetson and Todd Monken.

As an LSU fan, I’d be careful calling another team’s coach a fraud.
Especially one whose been to multiple playoffs, national title games with more than I championship under his belt.
