Playing one good defense? No. Big 12 and PAC 12 QBs rack up good numbers all the time from playing bad defenses. It's just took this long for the SEC to bottom out defensively.

Problem is that Burrow has played and demolished the current #2, #8, #13 and #15 defenses in the nation. In those 4 games, he has completed 78% of his passes for 1500+ yards and 11 TDs. I've never seen any QB have a season like he is having.

Auburn fans are salty that Joe has a chance to overtake Cam for most impressive single season in the history of the conference for a QB.

He already has. Cam was a phenomenal force and a different type of QB, but he didn't have one game with a completion % or passing yards total equal to Burrow's AVERAGE completion % or passing yard total for the season. And Cam had some subpar games in 2010. Burrow has not.

Burrow needs to get the national title to go along with the rest. Otherwise he'll be viewed the same way as Manziel.

Manziel was a phenomenal player, but he never even won a SEC title though. You were talking about a QB having the best season in the history of the conference. Burrow has accomplished that. I hear you on the other stuff for him being recognized on that other level though.

For 1 yr yes, but overall, far from it

This is progress. I remember before the year when you said we (LSU fans) were using anything we could to make Burrow sound better than he really was.

Tebow had the best SEC career.

We’ve played the #2, 8, 13 and 15 ranked defenses in the country.

Joe Burrow is a monster.

2012 Manziel is more impressive imo.

And he was a freshman

3800 passing yards 26 TD

1400 rushing 21 TD

Joe has more passing but joe has no rushing yards.

Cam has only had 2800 passing and the same yards rushing. Tebow didn’t even have a season with Manziel numbers as far as passing and rushing. Tebow has the best career but Johnny clearly had the best year. Joe just passed.

most dominant season ever. Not even close.

This. I won't try to argue for career because Tebow was incredible for his entire tenure

Burrow will pass this total yardage pretty soon, and already beat his total tds.

Not to mention, manziel vs LSU 2012 and 2013 actually happened, IRL. He was stopped in his tracks

What team this year has even come close to stopping burrow?

Tebow has a season with 23 rushing TDs and 32 passing TDS.

Joe has 48 passing TDS to Johnny’s 47 total.

Also you have Johnny an extra 100 yards passing.

And he had bad games. 0 TDS and 3 picks vs LSU that year.

He had an incredible year. Considering he was a redshirt freshman made it even more amazing. Manziel was an awesome runner, but Burrow has been a good runner and has averaged 4 ypc with big runs against 4 top 15 defenses. And not one team has shut him down. LSU shut Manziel down completely. Also, Johnny only had two games where he matched Joe's completion % and total passing yardage average. Burrow has been like a machine that even the best of defenses haven't stopped.

6 Quarterbacks in FBS History had seasons in which they threw for 3,000+ and ran for 1,000+

Vince Young
Dan Lefevour
Tim Tebow
Colin Kaepernick
Cam Newton
Johnny Manziel

2 Quarterbacks in FBS History had seasons in which they threw 20 touchdown passes and scored 20 rushing touchdowns.

Tim Tebow
Johnny Manziel

1 Quarterback did both in the same year.

Now imagine what would have happened if Manziel had stayed long enough to become a redshirt senior...he would have been in rehab.

It takes some serious mediocrity to not even have a Division Championship to show for a QB of that level.
