Urban said the comp was between him and Haskins and was close. Not sure where you got 3rd string from.

Whatever you want to think, go ahead and think it. It has absolutely no bearing on burrow or LSU.

You don't think Ohio State has a system? JT Barrett was a 3X All Big 10 QB and wasn't even drafted.

He also said the space that separated them was “razor thin” and that it was a really difficult decision. 3rd string thing is news to me.

Man have times changed. Now LSU is producing system QBs

I don’t know how big Colt Brennan is but Joe is 6’3 215-220. He ain’t small

Yes the system that he is in compliments his strengths. Decision making, mobility ,accuracy, leadership, and courage under pressure.

Drew Brees was pretty great with two different head coaches.

Drew Brees was pretty average before he got in Payton's system

You mean his first 2 years where he actually played?

Yea he was average in his first 2 years in the league.

But correct me if I’m wrong, he wasn’t in Sean Payton’s system his last year (right after his first 2) as a charger where he put up great numbers and led his team to 12-4?

65.5% 27 TDs to 7 INT

Without Sean Payton

Wow

Yup. tOSU staff thought he was an all conference level QB, just thought Haskins was All American level.

Is Joe Burrow a System QB? b

This has got to be the most ignorant comment I've ever seen on this board. Or the best troll.

I mean.. Drew Brees has been in the Saints' "system" his entire NFL career. Do you think Brees is a system guy?

Same with {name a lot of NFL QBs}

I don't see your point. Burrow is putting up historical numbers, either enjoy it or melt somewhere else.

You must not have seen him play the 2004 season with the Chargers.

if by system qb you mean the highest completion % throwing 20+ yards, then yeah. i suppose he's merely a product of the "system."

yeah. we can't all play that pass defense juggernaut DUKE.

burrow is completing passes that are tough in practice, much less in games. but yeah. those defenses. dam sun

Don't get me wrong. I really like Burrow. I think he's a good QB in that system. But there's a reason he was about to be 3rd string at Ohio State when he transferred.

Burrow was NOT about to become 3rd string in 2018 at OSU. Tathan Martell was NEVER going to beat out Burrow!

A little history, Burrow would have been OSU's #1 QB in 2017 as a redshirt Soph had not JT Barrett decided to come back for an extra year.
Burrow broke a bone in his throwing hand on a defender's helmet in Fall camp while running the 2's. Freshman Haskins got 2 by default while Burrow recovered.

Burrow got back to full health in mid-season and saw duty as did Haskins but Meyer didn't want a competition for 2 in mid-season, so Haskins stayed 2 and Burrow became 3.

As backup, Haskins came in and won the Michigan game, the ultimate tiebreaker for any Buckeye player competition.

In Spring 2018, Burrow and Haskins competed for 1 as JT Barrett was gone. #3 Martell was not a factor.

Many Buckeye fans thought Burrow won the Spring Game in 2018, but Meyer did not want to choose until Fall camp.

Burrow knew that if he stayed and competed at Fall camp, he would burn one valuable year of grad transfer eligibility, so he entered the transfer portal and the rest is history.

Burrow was 3 in 2017 because of the injury, but, had he stayed at OSU, he was about to become 2, not 3. And given Haskins broke all of Drew Brees' Big Ten passing records, it's not like Burrow left because of a nobody.
