We beat Clemson 7 - 0 in the Sugar Bowl on January 1, 1959 but back then the the National Championships were awarded before the bowl games. ...................................................................... Let me amend this - The last game of the regular season was one of the 62 - 0 victories over Tulane which was also in New Orleans.

Do you know how bowl games and championships worked in the poll days?

Like when I was a kid, going to the Sugar Bowl was the goal every year because that meant you were probably in the national title hunt. And you damn sure weren't if you didn't make it.

So I'm guessing the majority of Alabama's in the poll era were also won in NOLA or was the last game of the year.

Dumb thread.

Hell, I wish I had LSU’s good fortune in winning the lottery. Can’t fault them for the NC being in NOLA. If this was the pre-BCS era, the best team in the SEC was Sugar Bowl bound. So, look at it this way; LSU with a much harder road and still got to play in NO.

This is no different than Miami having the Orange Bowl advantage in the 80s and early 90s. 4 of their 5 titles were won when winning the Orange Bowl.

USC’s 1967, 1972, 1974, 1978, 2003 titles were won by having to win the Rose Bowl.

LSU’s 2003, 2007, 2011, 2019 championship caliber years go through NO, and this is through a more complex system such as the BCS and CFP where New Orleans is never a guarantee. They just happen to be fortunate. Can’t fault LSU.

You aren’t. One of them was against your team. It will be nice to punch your ticket a second time in NOLA.

He’s finally gotten over LSU finally wining and ruining their shot at another title. He’s back to generally civil discourse and discussion of SEC sports I see

You neglected to mention LSU is 3-1 in NOLA in title games
58 beat Clemson
03 beat Oklahoma
07 beat Ohio St.

We'll be 4-1 after tonight.
While you watch in envy.
LSU is ascending, b1ama is
descending.

Is it true that all Clemson does is whine and complain?

That is wrong:

In 1958 college football championship were handed out before bowl games are played.

Bowl game in those days were consider a reward for a good season.

Clemson is an institution of higher learning. It does not have vocal chords and therefore can not whine or complain. If you’re referring to Clemson fans...they whine and complain at about the same clip as LSU fans...except we don’t whine and complain using billboards.

I stand by my original post. Clemson as a whole whines and complains. Unfortunately they do not keep it on their version of the ACC Rant.

We do indeed. Glad we aren't playing that team tonight. Though this LSU team rolls that Tide team. LSU having an offense that is never out of a game is the "sleeping giant" the SEC has dreaded for years. Its here.

I don't care if we continue to win them all in Nola. That means we'd win every 4-5 years. Good enough for me.

Welp for 75 years the SEC champion was automatically sent to the Sugar Bowl in New Orleans. So if you won the SEC you went to the Sugar Bowl period.

Two BCS championships in Sugar Bowl because that was the rotation spot for the game

This year the super dome is the playoff location. Selected 8 years ago

So what is your point.
