In 1990 The King of CFB lost to So Miss and Brett Farve at Legion Field.

It was a 133* on the turf at kickoff

I don't know. I have been to an Alabama vs A&M Game in September and thought I was going to die (the excess booze probably didn't help). They even ran out of water at the place. This was the year they came to the conference I believe.

Dont get me wrong, it can still be quite hot in September, but the past couple weeks arent really September weather either. Maybe that 1st game weekend on the 2nd/3rd will be quite a bit hot with a handful of SEC home games in the afternoon then, but the weather will get milder as September goes on. Still not sure we see this kind of weather in 2 weekends.

Also, more teams should look to adopt LSU's new air conditioned helmets which I know the players have been loving, would really help reduce heat exhaustion.

The next week with when they lost to Fla (Spurrier's first SEC win) at BDS, it may have been hotter but both were scorching.

I just checked the early forecast for Athens on Sept 2. It’s predicting mid 80s with a 40% chance of rain. Getting cooler at night. No mention of the humidity.
We kick off at 6 pm. I’ll take that. Gladly

We’ll go to three Auburn games this year, but not until later in the year. I don’t mind the 6 PM kickoff b/c you can still get home before midnight (earlier in the Harsin era!) Alabama is going to lose some HS players Friday—you can bump the kickoffs back to 8, but the kids will still be out at 5 or 6 doing drills or warmups. The climate is changing faster than we are adjusting.

Luckily the first two games for SC are both at 7:30. Our first afternoon game is against UGA in Athens on September 16th. Hopefully it will have cooled down slightly by then.

The crazy thing is a lot of parents bring their little kids to noon games because they're early.

I wouldn't do that to a kid in Gainesville or Baton Rouge until November.

It’s just as hot in Denver (96) as Birmingham today. Granted the humidity is lower.
Lived in CO for ten years—finally put an a/c in. Neighbors were doing the same thing. “Ain’t like it used to be!”

We've been playing football games during the daytime in the South for well over 125 years. I think we will be fine. The only thing that has changed is people got fat and too reliant on air-conditioning.

I'm guessing a lot of players are thankful two-a-days are no longer allowed

Yeah! I yearn for the days of old when opening Labor Day weekend games you had to wear a coat. Gimme those days back

Dude, have you ever thought about visiting hospitals and nursing homes? With that bedside manner, you would be a natural.

I agree. I can't remember which town in Arkansas but I believe the heat index was 122. Absolutely insane. I knew it was going to be hot when we switched from LA Nina to El Nino but damn..
