Jalen Hurts doesn't have the guru of QB regression, Les Miles, as his coach.

No, Wheezie couldn't run or pass as good as Hurts.

Hurts also hasn't had any trouble with the law like Wheezie.

Umm.. They're both black? I don't get the comparison.

Hurts is a better runner and a better passer than JJ.

Jefferson in his career averaged under 3 yards per carry and was never above 4 yards per carry in any single season. He wasn't much of a runner or passer. This is an awful comparison.

Other than what's already been mentioned, a big difference is that Hurts doesn't think he's better than he is. At least he doesn't show it. JJ thought he was far better than he actually was.

It's not a terrible comparison. Hurts is a very limited passer right now. Force him to sit in the pocket and LSU has a good shot this game.

So, as usual, it'll come down to the trenches

Alabama and LSU, it's always about the big uglies.

Hurts is due for a "freshman" performance
Sorry, he just had it. Now he's due for another badass dominant performance.

I agree with this assessment, though I would not say its a good shot, I think it gives them the best shot.

LSU and Alabama will both enter this game somewhat limited through the air. Both have very good defenses. If LSU or AU or any other team can effectively shut down Alabama's run game, and force Hurts to beat you with his arm, that team has a shot at beating Alabama. Hurts is not at this point a polished passer and he's taken precious few shots downfield (and he really hasn't needed to.) Maybe he will develop into a better passer (he is a true freshman). But right now, there's no question he's limited in his ability to read defenses that force multiple progressions and he's not exactly polished on delivering a ball more than 10 yards down the field.

I know Bama fans will never see this parallel in an objective manner, but it has some real validity.

Hurts, as did JJ, will HAVE to learn how to make intermediate and long passes, as LSU's D is fo'real.

Hurts has poise and confidence and looks the part. JJ looked like he was retarded out there.

Hurts is exactly the same as JJ in that both received mentions as darkhorse Heisman candidates as freshmen.

Hurts has had shitty passing performances against the two teams he's gone against with a defensive pulse

I don't think it means a "freshman" performance. He was dominant in the run in both of those games

Two of those defenses did not phase him. LSU will make him fluster (at least for three quarters)

No.

Jordan was a MUCH better passer and could run just as well (if not better) than Jalen. This is just insulting to Jordan.
