Is Fla for real, and will Tenn’s QB improve enough to make things interesting in the East

Fla seems to be on the upswing, Kentucky should tell us if that’s true. Tenn fans may not agree but their QB seems very capable, with some coaching and modifications.

Fla’s running the ball better, that’s a problem for any team that can’t defend both run and pass.

Defense appears to be significantly better too.

I don't know if "on the upswing" is the right term yet, that will be determined after they play UK and SCar, but they definitely appear to have improved.

They didn't suck on the road against Utah and made Tennessee suck in Gainesville. They might be the 2nd best team in the east.

Florida has a lot of youth starting this year.

I think the only senior starter they have right now is Pearsall. And most of the roster has been turned over from last season. So while that might be good in the long run since many of Mullen's recruits were pretty big busts, this year it will probably lead to some inconsistent play.

The offense has been streaky, but has never been dynamic either.

I predict there will be times where they could play like the second best team in the east and other times where they might look lost.

Saturday will be a good test for both teams.

I can buy that. I do think the lack of a returning QB makes the decision easier for them that they have to be run first team behind a talented run blocking line. When they face a team (like Utah) that can shut that down, they will struggle.

Pretty solid analysis. Our offense depends on the run game and our O-line has been extremely inconsistent. Billy's play calling can be maddening as well.

Will be a mystery what we look like on offense week to week.

Defense looks good though.

Very young. If Billy hires an OC I'll be excited for the future. His recruiting and talent eval has looked good so far.

Literally.

There's been different line ups each game due to different starters being hurt or suspended.

I'm not sold on Florida yet.

Remember, last year UF's offense looked great against Tennessee's defense too. Tennessee had the offensive firepower to win anyway. Tennessee's defense is about the same as last year and the offense isn't as good... which gives you the 29-16 win instead of a 33-38 loss. And last year's UF team wasn't good.

Fla is getting better but doesn’t mean they are back.
Just better than last year.
Ky we never really know Stoops is a good coach time will tell.

Anthony Richardson decided to ball out that game. He played retarded against Kentucky.

The scheme may be the same, but the offense is totally different. With Anthony, we were extremely inefficient but possibly the most explosive offense in the country. With Mertz, we are incredibly efficient, but the least explosive offense in the country.

Florida is not for real, and UT's quarterback will not improve.

Until Nico plays, this UT offense will be anemic.

How so? They only 395 yds & scored one TD last week against Charolette. They got up for the Vols and played half as decent game. Outside of that they looked completely lost against Utah.

Florida is getting better, QB is much better, defense is much better. Problems continue to be consistency in the O-line, play calling and special teams.
The Gators need to be 6-1 going into the bye week to have a successful season because the back half is brutal.

Or it could just be an anemic gimmick offense like everyone told Vol fans since they hired Heup.

Florida does nothing that would stress UGA at all.

UT with better QB play might, but Kirby has a pretty good handle on how to deal with their offensive scheme unlike a certain other school in the west…

UGA isn’t as good as last year but no one else in the east is close to challenging them right now.

I think in a year or two LSU fans are gonna wish that they had hired Napier instead of Kelly. Kelly's a good coach but I don't think he'll ever win a NC at LSU, or even an SEC championship for that matter. Napier's a great recruiter and is building a strong foundation. Kelly had more immediate success but I think Napier will have more long term success.
