The money is not there from the networks to continue adding members.

The SEC is plenty big enough to never get left behind.

Why add members if your annual split of revenue drops?

It may be cheaper for ESPN to pay more for Clemson and FSU because they would be able rework/Cancel their ACC Network deal because the league would not be as valuable. They could actually make money

Is AAU a measurement of how adequately a university pushes leftist propaganda and programs their students?

Not at all actually, it's all about Research spending. The AAU is basically a sign your school gets a ridiculous amount of grants and does heavy duty research. The B1G is especially concerned about that because they work together to build a brand around it and get that money. There are 69 US Schools in the AAU (2 in Canada) and they dominate research spending. The SEC will have 5 after Texas joins (A&M, Texas, UF, Vandy, and Missouri). A&M and Texas are both at around $1.1 Billion in Research Spend and UF and Vandy are around $1 Billion.

Essentially it comes down to 5 main factors:
1. Research Spending
2. Med School on Campus
3. ABET Engineering School
4. Land Grant School
5. Politics

The Politics is the most annoying part and has screwed over the Southern and Mountain schools for the most part. The NE, B1G, and UC schools dominate and have very different bars of entry for schools based around that. I don't know how USF pulled off getting voted in though, that really surprised me.

SEC schools also suffer because very few have Med Schools on campus (if it's not on campus it doesn't "count"), Med Schools are massive Research spending machines. Most of them have a divided system of a Liberal Arts/Business focused Flagship, an Engineering/Ag focused Land Grant, and a Med School in a separate location.

As a Florida fan, how can you possibly want FSU in the SEC?

It will help them. It's throwing them a life raft when they're sinking.

Just stop.

This is my thought on Clemson. frick em', let them drown.

Wouldn't you flip Fl. with somebody to keep both state schools together?

the idea was the keep the original 10 in west/east pods with each other because they always say that the SEC was best at 10 members.. this gives them at least 4 of those games every year, and 5 for all teams except LSU and FL because FL needs to play FSU each year. It would still play LSU as well 4x in 6 years.

I personally don’t care what the pods are, or what the schedule is.. I imagine most Texas fans wouldn’t care as long as we get to play OU.. and most would like to also play A&M.. I’m just trying to figure out a schedule that everyone is happy with..

Forget pods. Four permanent rivals. Five rotating games. That would still allow schools to play everyone else in the conference every three years, home and aways every six years.

1. Missouri: Arkansas, Oklahoma, Texas, Vanderbilt
2. Oklahoma: Texas, Missouri, Texas A&M, Arkansas
3. Texas: Oklahoma, Texas A&M, Arkansas, Missouri
4. Texas A&M: LSU, Texas, Oklahoma, Virginia Tech
5. Arkansas: Missouri, LSU, Texas, Oklahoma
6. LSU: Texas A&M, Arkansas, Ole Miss, Alabama
7. Ole Miss: Mississippi State, Vanderbilt, LSU, Auburn
8. Mississippi State: Ole Miss, Kentucky, Alabama, Auburn
9. Alabama: Auburn, Tennessee, Mississippi State, LSU
10. Auburn: Alabama, Georgia, Ole Miss, Mississippi State
11. Vanderbilt: Tennessee, Ole Miss, Kentucky, Missouri
12. Tennessee: Vanderbilt, Alabama, Florida, Kentucky
13. Kentucky: Virginia Tech, Mississippi State, Vanderbilt, Tennessee
14. Virginia Tech: Kentucky, Clemson, North Carolina, Texas A&M
15. North Carolina: Florida State, South Carolina, Virginia Tech, Clemson
16. South Carolina: Clemson, North Carolina, Georgia, Florida
17. Clemson: South Carolina, Virginia Tech, Florida State, North Carolina
18. Georgia: Florida, Auburn, South Carolina, Florida State
19. Florida State: North Carolina, Florida, Clemson, Georgia
20. Florida: Georgia, Florida State, Tennessee, South Carolina

works for me.. needs a little tweaking imo to make everyone happy..

A&M will scream from the rooftops with that schedule.. not that they matter with 1 vote, but they would have a valid beef.

You need to separate the groups into 10 and 10..

Won NC since 1998
Alabama
Auburn
Georgia
Tennessee
Florida
LSU
Texas
Oklahoma
FSU
Clemson

Other 10
everyone else

Perm = 2 from top, 2 from bottom

Schedule = Perm + 2 from top + 2 from bottom
Last game = top/bottom to make it work

So each year, all teams would play 4 from the top, 4 from the bottom + 1 that rotates from top to bottom

I like the pod schedule better though.

Year 1 & 4
Pod A + Pod B = Division 1
Pod C + Pod D = Division 2

Each division would play the same 9 game schedule + 1 permanent opponent

Year 2 & 5
Pod A + Pod C
Pod B + Pod D

Year 3 & 6
Pod A + Pod D
Pod B + Pod C

Easy format and easy scheduling and it can’t get any more fair than that. Just my opinion.

and I have a different idea for the SEC Championship.. instead of 1 game with the champions from each division, give the champions a bye and play 2 games instead of 1

D1 2nd place vs D2 3rd place
D2 2nd place vs D1 3rd place

That leaves a top 4 teams for the playoffs to choose from.
2 division champs + 2 playin game winners

So the goal each year is to finish in the top 3 of your 10 team division. Makes the regular season even better imo.

eta: or make it a 3 game weekend and let the champs play to see who earns the bye for the playoffs..

SEC 4 teams
B1G 4 teams
1 Big 12
1 G5
2 Wildcards

Idk the exact format, but something like this could be really good for the game imo.

Well...good luck with that.

Different people will tell you which teams are rivals & which aren't. Then there are those that don't want any rivals while others want all.
Last, you have those that want a FULL ROTATION in 4 years while others say that's not possible due to A, B, C, ......

How's that any different than his idea (except for the 1 perm mot in your pod)?

&, pods are about the ONLY format that can create a fair & balanced way for ALL to have the same scheduling. As it's been pointed out: no divisions will (more than likely) result in tie-breakers to sort same-record teams.

For UGA our permanent would be AUB. So in a year where we play the "west" as our pod, where does the extra game come from?

We'd play the 4 other teams in our pod, we'd play the 5 teams in the "west" pod, but since our permanent opponent AUB is in that pod that means we've got 9 SEC teams scheduled instead of 10. Where does the extra game come in?

Sorry, but the SECCG teams would already be decided:

Y1/4 - AB winner vrs. CD winner
Y2/5 - AC winner vrs. BD winner
Y3/6 - AD winner vrs. BC winner

No need for a playoff to go to ANOTHER playoff.

My plan (of 4x4 pods) had 1 perm in each of the other pods. So, you had all the teams in your pod + 1 from the others = 9.

1-3 your pod
4-6 partnered pod
7-9 perm in other 3 pods

This way it didn't matter who you were paired with, you still had the same format as any other team.

Now, @ 18...I don't know a good plan. @ 20, I'ld have to think about it because (using my plan above) would result in 11 games...meaning UGA (GT) & Kent. (Louisville) would never be able to schedule anybody.

Every team would have a permanent.. in your case.. Auburn..

When you play the West Pod, you would then play a replacement permanent (ie someone from the other 2 pods you aren’t playing)

Everyone would have the same setup.

4 Pod Games
5 Division Games (other pod)
1 Perm or Replacement Perm

I was going to say it initially.. but too much info al at once shuts a lot of people down

FL - FSU / LSU
GA - AUB / OU
AL - TN / TX
OU - CLEM / GA
or something like that
etc etc

Each team plays
your pod 6x in 6 years
your perm 6x in 6 years
your replacement perm 4x in 6 years
all other teams 2x in 6 years

* Auburn Permanent
** Oklahoma Replacement

It’s definitely a hard schedule for all teams.. but there would be a shitload of content to sell and I think fans would like it.

8-2 would be a really good record in conf play
