LSU/Bama is only a rivalry when both programs are at a similar level and the games are competitive, which has only been recently in the past decade. LSU/UT has a long history of hatred and will always be a rivalry even when the teams are mismatched.

Ehh. I think the hatred for Tenn/Bama are higher but the stakes for LSU/Bama are incredibly high. I would say there's a 95% chance that the winner on Nov 3 will hold up the crystal at the end of the season. (Unless of course they play each other again )

Is Bama/LSU even a bigger rivalry than Bama/Florida? Bama's played Florida seven times with the SEC Championship on the line with the national championship on the line multiple times.

This is no different than UF/UT in the 90's. The game meant more, but there is no question that Bama was the bigger rival. And it will always be that way. When UT beat Bama 7 times in a row, we weren't questioning who was the bigger rival.

As stated already, Bama/LSU is a big game. TSIO is a rivalry between the two most storied programs in the SEC. As long as Bama and LSU stay on top, this game will mean a lot but it will never come close to TSIO. For a lot of folks, TSIO means more than the Iron Bowl.

At the moment, probably. Over time probably not.

I think a more appropriate comparison would be Florida. We've gone head to head with them numerous times in the SECCG . . so we've played more games that "matter" against them, yet I don't consider them a rivalry, nor do I dislike them.

I remember finding the visiting LSU fans to be obnoxious when encountering them the first time in 1990 when they came to visit--I was a freshman at UA.

It's hard to change a first impression--it's been 22 years now, and I still can't get the corndog smell out of my head.

Not a rivalry. Just good, classic competition.

I hate LSU more than I hate UT. I think everyone outside of Northern Alabama within the state thinks the same way, but don't hold me to that.

bigger is a matter of opinion

more relevant is not - the LSU/Bama game is a more relevant game that more people around the country will have an interest in and watch. The winner of the LSU/Bama game has an inside shot at the SEC and perhaps NC - in rare circumstances (last year) the loser may also not be eliminated from the NC hunt.
