The players were misused by LR and his staff. For example Perrion Winfrey dominated the senior bowl.

you can say whatever you want AGGIE but from 2000 to 2004 OU was ranked inside the top 5 for the entire four year period except for the idiot who voted us 6th when we held Arky to 60 total yards in the cotton bowl which is a record still. We go on a top 5 run for 4-5 years every decade...... can you say that??????????? hence why OU is the number 1 team all time per the AP

Really hating on Bob Stoops? Come on. One of the best people out there. He is nothing but class and a great HOF coach.

Half your program wins currently come against Kansas, Kansas State, Iowa State and Oklahoma State.

I didn’t realize OU is joining the NFC East.

Well, that’s not going to happen. Will love to watch OU eviscerate your team though.

OU is currently a joke along with Texas and LSU to be honest. Let's see if they can make up any ground in 2023.

No, you hope they will be a joke in the SEC. Knowing Venables is now head coach can’t make you feel any better.

You and other Big 12 team fans seem to have a short memory when it comes to A&M leaving the Big 12. We were getting sued, threatened, "it is a huge mistake", ordered by Big 12 leadership not to schedule us in the future, your little sister teasip refused to carry on with our rivalry game and then refused to play us in the Cotton Bowl in 2012. They were afraid to face Johnny Football so they sent big brother BlowU in to teach A&M a lesson. We all know how that turned out.

All of the sudden, BlowU and little sister 'sip want to do the same thing A&M did ten years ago and not expect to catch some grief for it.

The big 12 was being run into the ground and A&M, Missouri, Nebraska and Colorado all saw it coming. After A&M and Mizzou left, Big 12 put in new rules to prevent exactly what is currently happening or y'all would be playing in the SEC next season. The Big 12 was all about tu and everyone else was secondary. The funny thing is that even though 'sip runs the conference they still can't seem to win it anymore.

Chokelahoma would be a lot better off if they could make their own decisions and not allow teasip to make all of their important decisions for them.

Personally, I am excited that BlowU and Little sister are joining the SEC. It will make for some exciting football and more money for the rest of the SEC. That new tv contract is going to be huge and all of the SEC teams will benefit from it.

Good God. I just found this board’s idiot.

Damn erased all A&M fans with that one post lol.

I love Bama fans they have the same passion we do as OU fans but they seem to be forgetting OU since 2000 has actually a better record and won more games then Bama has ….

Honest question. What makes you so certain Venables will make a good head coach?

There have been plenty of "can't miss head coaches" that have....missed.

Tom Herman
Scott Frost
Charlie Strong
Clay Helton
Larry fedora
Chad Morris
Kevin Sumlin
Chip Kelly (when he came back to college)
Kliff Kingsbury
Willie Taggart

and the list goes on and on. They were all the hot coach at one point and didn't live up to expectations. But you seem dead certain that Brent Venables is going to hit big. Why?

Now do national Championships. There is a big difference in piling up wins in the BIG 12 and doing it in the SEC.

Respectfully, two of the top three were hired by a dysfunctional Texass administration, others have had varying success. Not sure I'd put Kingsbury on this list given what he did where. But in the end, the leadership at OU has a good track record with coaching hires, I'll give them the benefit of the doubt, especially with a guy who does have a good track record, and has turned down many offers before this.

You can't seriously think that. Besides the fact that Riley is one of the best coaches in the college game, Venables hasn't even proven he's a decent head coach.

Riley was headed down every year. And was given top talent by Bob. BV will be an upgrade and is changing the culture. Admin is giving him all the tools to win. The gray area in chart is Rileys HC years. He went down 5 years in row. This chart goes back 51 years (we had a bad period in 90’s)

Oh God this is what I am talking about. Sooner fans are so damn cringe and delusional. They view a sugar bowl win as the same as a national title. “A win is a win”. You probably also believe “You are what your record says you are”.

Yep, but then Alabama had about 21 victories taken away.

But if we go back to 1990, even with Alabama being docked 28 wins, Alabama has the better record than OU

It is the same from 2010, Alabama leads.

You picked the one decade that your facts are accurate.

Huh I picked exactly the time frame we was talking about the Big 12 vs Sec …. I didn’t change any time frame you just did . Yes in the 90 we had several losing season under one coach . Let’s go back to the 80s OU 70s OU 50s for sure OU. You might of won two decades in 60 years so try and pick those lol. Anyway you look at it OU aid tight out there with Bama to leading in any category. We don’t claim NC we didn’t win like Bama does . We claimed unanimous NCs We finshied undefeated countless times that we didn’t win a NC for …. Bama claims them all of them even though most weren’t recognized by major pollsters . There is a reason why the AP considered OU number one becuase OU is the most consistent football team ever … those are facts so please don’t try and do what all you Bama fans just did and get owned again.

I get that, and it's a valid point. But, there were a lot of people in the SEC that wanted him, too. I mean, they were hot...until they weren't.

You are probably right. I honestly haven't watched him or his school, so I should have left him off.

No doubt. Stoops, Riley were good hires and they lasted a long time. Well, Lincoln would have lasted had he not crapped out on you. I still think he was crazy for leaving Oklahoma.

quote:

especially with a guy who does have a good track record,
But that's the thing. He doesn't have a track record, really. Not as a head coach. That's what makes me a bit surprised. I thought Oklahoma would have gone after a coach with head coach experience.

Anyway...thanks for answering.
