How do these bowls survive? Nobody is there.

Most these games look like Spring scrimmages

There are entirely to many bowls. Watered down... Just my opinion...

I kind of think you are right...Just not the same. NCAA f'ed up allowing more and more bowls with no limit.

10 bowls max. plus the playoffs. At least 8 wins to qualify.

Ole Miss isn't doing anything, they should go help with attendance to some of these games.

I spent about $5k on the Rose Bowl experience last year. I never even considered spending $60/ticket on the Sugar Bowl. It’s a shame because the Sugar Bowl is special, but the playoffs killed the New Years Six. Too many participation trophies in college football, so yes, Bowl games are dead.

Plus, the star players don’t play anymore

Bowls exist for TV audiences. Period. The playoff games are the only real bowl experiences worth attending anymore.

Ad money from sponsors and television. Not a big mystery.

I enjoy watching all the bowl games. It won't be long til the season is over.

I enjoy the bowls.
I went to the camellia bowl.
It was a great game.
I like football and am watching Vanderbilt Baylor right now.

Not like they used to. The home viewing experience has become very good and inexpensive. You can have friends over for the tailgating experience.

I never complain about watching college football. Before long it'll be over until Sept and I don't give a shite about the NBA....NHL and don't get into college BB until about Feb and MLB until Oct.

agreed. i have no idea why people have such an issue with bowl games being played. if i think something on tv is pointless, i just dont watch it. Its super easy.

Why do people suggest that the playoffs killed the bowls?
Going as far back as 1992, there has been a concerted effort to matchup 1 and 2, meaning every other bowl was just an exhibition.
There are too many, and the scheduling is awful. There could be wall to wall bowl games the last couple Saturdays of December and then a handful on New Year's Eve and the biggest on New Year's Day.

I mean hell, the Cheez-It bowl was probably the worst bowl game ever but yet I still went and bought all 16 Cheez-It flavors the next day. Cheez-It was all over ESPN and Twitter.
ETA: Pizza flavor is best so far.
