Not an Arkansas player, so it doesn't matter.

Andre Ware on this very play: "That Tim Fugger is somethin' else I tell ya what."
Dave Neal: "Yep"
That hit gets a flag and a fine in the NFL.

FTR. I am not one of those saying kick him off. Full game at most, and more than waranted or needed, but a half game/ quarter is more than fair.

i have no idea why yall are discussing whether or not he called for a fair catch. Where is the relevance?

Did Petrino address the play after the game with the media? Curious as to his take. Too lazy to search.

Where's the ball? and taking a single frame shot does not show what actually happened on this play. Wade's hit was blatant and right in front of about 5 refs

He was ejected, the right call was made. I chalk it up as a young and dumb pklayer trying to make his mark on the team, he needs to mature a bit. The opposing player could have been hurt pretty bad and no one wants to see that.

I've removed him from the team on NCAA2012 on my Xbox.

If the Vandy player had obviosly called for the fair catch, then the hit by Wade would have definitely been egregious, and it takes an egregious hit in that circumstance to warrant an ejection.
Since the Vandy player never clearly waved for a fair catch, and since the Vandy player ran upfield at the last second and tried to catch the ball on the run, it was more of a bang-bang play that didn't show Wade was clearly out head hunting a defensless punt returner. The punt returner misjudged the punt and had to run upfield at the last second to catch it on the run; since no fair catch was called for, Wade was running full speed toward him. Was Was supposed to make a split second decision to jump out of the way and allow the Vandy player to catch the ball on the run?
It was certainly a penalty, but not egregious. That's why we're talking about whether or not the punt returner called for a fair catch.
Here's "egregious":

Point being, he has possession of the ball and every right to be takled. as far as the single frame comment, seriously you can't make a judgement on that. what if a second before that frame he hits with his arms and shoulder? then moves to that position. not saying that hit is clean or not, just saying that judgement can't be made

It has minor relevance because a fair catch call would have signaled that there was no need for a hit period. Without a fair catch call, one could argue it was just a miss timed hit.
Doesn't change the fact that it was kick catch interference and he went to the head of a defenseless player. It has been blown out of proportion, but there really is no defense for the play and I find it hard to believe people are trying to defend it.
Calling for the kid to be kicked off the team, etc. is silly as well.
