Maybe people will stop laughing off the SEC as a good basketball conference
It's God Awful. There isn't even a Sweet 16 caliber team in the whole league.

2nd most tourney wins without a Final Four
Can LSU say that? NO. They've been to a Final Four.

That seems to be helping LSU at the moment.

Good at football and baskethoops?
Florida isn't that good. They had a good run with a great team, however the SEC sucks at basketball except Kentucky.
It's like seeing a Big East team have a good football season. Is UConn becoming a football power?!?!?!!?? NO THEY ARE NOT.

The difference is Alabama has a solid basketball history, and has a great talent base to pull from. Not to mention Grant was a big part of both of Florida's national titles.

Not really. Alabama has 8 losses on the season. That is only 1 less than a horrible Arkansas team. An Arkansas that also beat Alabama earlier in the year.
Alabama seems to have an okay club, but beating up on SEC teams right now is not much to brag about.
The resume is not that good as of now, IMO. Losses to Seton Hall, Iowa, St. Peters, Arkansas, Providence, and Oklahoma State. The problem with all those losses is that all those teams outside of St.Peters has a losing record in their own conference.
When you start looking at the wins Alabama has, they are not all that great either. Really, outside of beating Kentucky at home, there is no signature win. Even Kentucky though is playing horribly on the road this year. They just lost their 7th game to Vanderbilt.

Math should tell you half the teams get knocked out in the first round. Plenty of upsets, too. 48, now 52 teams, do not make the sweet 16.
So, Bama will have to take things in small steps. If it is only the first round, well, maybe OK. Second round, getting better. Sweet 16? Now, we're talking.

What?? They've made the tourney quite a bit but they've never made a final four. They're one of they're tied for 4th with Utah State for the most tourney appearances without a final 4 at 19. Tat isn't a solid history. That is a history of flaming out early.
