Lsu doesnt count that year because most players were in either europe or the pacific

They went 7-2 that year, with blowouts over Rice and TAMU on either side of the Bama loss.

True.

And it's certainly no coincidence that in 1945, the year we won World War II, the top two teams in the country were #1 Army and #2 Navy.

I mean, Army had the schedule to back up the ranking. I'm not sure if you're being sarcastic or not, but 1945 Army was legit.

Ask an Auburn fan what they think about that statement.

Is this where we say Army was too afraid to play us in a bowl game?

Well, just a minute.

Army had awesome teams in the war years for reasons that should be pretty obvious.

I think the war years are a wash for NC's.

Vanderbilt was pretty good back in those days. In fact, they had gone undefeated two consecutive years prior to that.

In 43 and 44 Vandy played Tennessee Tech FOUR times, Sewanee twice (with one tie game), Fort Campbell, Milligan and Carson-Newman. 9 games in two years, against non-Div Ia teams.

In 1940 Vandy went 3-6-1, and in 1945 Vandy went 3-6.

For the 40s Vandy ranked #50 nationally in win% at 60.8%.

No, Vandy's best years had long since passed.

They went 8-2 in 1941, and shut out 5 opponents.

No, Bama was #2 in the AP. Army won the NC in 1945.

No. But it should be. We were 10-0 and won the Rose Bowl in convincing fashion over highly ranked Southern Cal.

"BY GAWD! WE HAVE WON EVERY NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP SINCE THEY INVENTED NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS!!"

STFU! Half of the ones you inbred clowns claim now are bullshite. No one is going to "award" you more fantasy titles.

I have heard it all now. Latch on to the WWII victory in an attempt to give Bammer a share of the championship.

If I'm not mistaken their team was off defending our country so they were allowed to bring in other players? Something along those lines?

Nope we don't claim that one...even though it'd be a worthier one than our bogus '41 claim. However, I don't think anyone touches '45 Army that year; with 2 Heisman Trophy winning running backs, they beat 4 teams that finished in the top 10, and a couple more that finished in the top 20...
