So can you tell us why they quit playing? Any respectable fan can.

Wasn't there a disagreement over the amount per player to allow for travel expenses?

Yes auburn wanted 3.50 per 22 players. Alabama was only willing to give 3.00. That is what stopped the game for 40 years.

Much more complicated. Bama wanted Auburn either closed or moved to Bham. Very political.

During the 1907 state legislature session, a debate surfaced to move the land-grant college from Auburn to Birmingham. Then later in that same session, the legislature approved the first appropriation to Auburn some 35 years after it first opened its doors, for a promised $800,000. The college only received a third of that appropriation, while the University of Alabama remained fully funded through the State Board of Education. The state legislature, still controlled by University of Alabama alumni, still appeared intent on letting Auburn "dry out".[7]

tThe official reasons being that the schools could not come to agreement over the amount of travel expenses to be paid to players, as well as from where officials for the game should be obtained.[9] It is also reasons that the University of Alabama halted the series in an attempt to further delegitimize the exisistence of Auburn

The two teams did not play between 1908 and 1947... This was a great era in Alabama football and auburn was meh.
Alabama currently leads the all time series 43-35.

If the teams played every year from 1908 to 1947 bama would likely lead something like 73-45 in the all time series...

Now I've seen everything on this board.

And we call the rivalry now ornery.

API had to go to state legislature.

You're wrong. It was a bipartisan effort of both UA and API legislators who wanted to see the game played again. Both schools were against it and only when funding for both institutions was threatened did they agree.

The world is never enough for you Gumps.

I look forward to your next thread about Saban's exploits in the Sugar Bowl.

If there was any doubt that you are the former CC Tiger1, there is no longer any. Kinda pathetic that someone can be recognized from many years ago by their repetitive irrelevant drivel and hatred towards a group of 18-22 year olds.

Needs posting again:

Get ready to see a lot of post like this from the Bammers the next few days. It is used as therapy so they can get thru the National Championship Game. We need a seperate forum for them Monday Night called "Please do not jump off the Bridge" or "Do not Beat Your Wife", so the can vent about all the money they lost on Tickets/Hotels.
