I guess he knows what he's doing, but it's weird seeing Durkin with the deepest DL talent in the nation go to a 3 man front.
Durkin's D at Ole Miss last year gave up 51 points to Arkansas; this year at A&M, 21.
Durkin's D on road against Miss St. last year gave up 21pts.
We'll see. A&M is starting to grow up- lots of young guys gaining experience.

Leach has been a pain for us. Period. And I straight up LOATHE the three man front. Ole Miss fans warned us

That said I only looked at the box score so that probably doesn't tell the entire story.

thanks- I feel better now. I was afraid maybe y'all had guys that knew how to catch.

It comes in spurts, happened against LSU this year, some games everybody on the team forgets how to catch a football.

Timing dude.
Leach offense is lethal when it runs like a well oiled machine. The timing between QB and WR is so ingrained in both that they can basicially run on muscle memory.
But when a defense can effectively disrupt that timing and make the QB and WR think and adjust on the fly, these drops start to happen.
It's always been the Achilles heel of Leach's system. Look back at the games where it looks like the WRs forget how to catch, and the common theme in these games will be consistent disruption at the LOS and in the backfield that prevents the offense from finding its rhythm.

Miami and Arkansas suck. State is going to destroy aggy. Everybody knows that.
I mean, Miami did lose to Middle Tennessee State.

100% accurate

Apparently maroon jerseys prevent one from catching very catchable balls, I thought I was watching an A&M highlight reel at first

These were on the same drive. It was also about the only drive were State moved the ball down the field with ease. Durkin shut down Leach 2 years in a row. Can he do it a 3rd with the talent at A&M? Maybe but I just don't see how A&M scores more than 14. They lost their best WR off an offense that has sucked so far. State has a good defense. Not elite but good

Also worth mentioning in the “Leach vs Durkin” discussion that State fumbled at the goal line in 2020 in Oxford or that game potentially looks a bit different. Rogers’ stat lines from those two games were actually good. His WR’s and OL let him down at times and it cost State the game.
Pass rush will tell the tale. Ole Miss was able to limit State last year because they had a dominant pass rusher that totally embarrassed our right tackle. If A&M is able to do something similar then yeah the Air Raid is gonna have issues.
I don’t expect this to be a particularly pretty game. Final score in the range of 20-17 feels like the most likely outcome.

Not on offense.

Leach always seems to have a stout offensive line, and that makes his offense work.
Without looking it up I’m going to say A&M’s defensive sacks and TFL are near the bottom of the conference.
A&M and Durkin have their work cut out for them.

A&M lacks the firepower to keep up if Leach gets in rhythm. He has always been A&M's kryptonite.

I do think we are maybe focusing a little too much on State’s offense and not really focusing on a bad A&M offense without Ainias Smith going against a pretty solid State D.
Durkin could easily hold State to 21 or 24 like he did the last two years…. And there’s a pretty good chance that’s all State needs to win. A&M is averaging less than 20 points a game against FBS opponents and that’s with a defensive touchdown baked in.
