Stanford is a pretty good team and where Ala never could run away with it, it also was never reall in doubt. Seeing what a really ugly, gloomy day it is around here, I was really impressed with the attendance. I missed the call, but it looked like easily over 10,000.

Ignore the "69th best" dorks. Who among them would have an issue with their team playing in a non-BCS bowl or one that paid less than $3M ? None. I hope you beat Maryland and go to New York. If you get the opportunity, go up their to the NIT title game if you make it. I did it in 1990 with my dad and saw Vandy beat St Louis for the title at MSG. Had a ball.

Good job today.

Kicking arse in the NIT is bittersweet.

Not until they stop handing out automatic bids to dinky conferences it isn't.

I am probably in the minority but always enjoy seeing a SEC team do well. I give the Bama guys a hard time here but always like to see them do well outside the conference.

I'm quite fine with that. Where's Auburn?

Put a 4 before the 6.

Remember it is the National Invitational Tournamant. Have to be invited to participate.

If we're not being dicks, we realize that Alabama is probably a top 40 team in the nation.

Unless you win your conference regular season championship then fail to win your conference tourney and do not receive a NCAA bid, then you get in automatically.

This is how Robert Morris, Mercer, etc. got in.

If you take out all the auto-bids in the NCAA tournament, there is really only 37 at large teams taken.

When you factor in all the shite teams taken into the tournament from conferences like the SWAC, MEEACCIOVNOS, Southland, etc. Teams in the NIT are not really playing to be "69th best", but top 40 is more like it...

It is kinda bittersweet because Bama is playing well but a few sloppy performances in the season kept them out of the dance. No way Bama could have competed for a NC even if they get in but they can at least go to NYC and get a trophy if they win the NIT.

Same here.

No matter the team, I always find myself pulling for the SEC team.

Would rather lose in the first round of the NCAA tournament versus winning the NIT.

Of course this Alabama basketball team is not any good, and no one can complain about even being in the NIT.

Same here. I pull for every SEC team in every sport when playing outside the conference. Like each other or not, we're still family!
