My coach can eat 2-3 times the grass your coach can.

Stop being so insecure. BOTH are excellent coaches.

He's 2-2 against Miles. He's also 0-1 against Watson Brown. Are you going to argue that Mack's awkward looking brother is better?

the way each coach handles themselves and speaks helps along with the numbers. saban is good at sounding like he is in complete control and all is well.

les miles isn't as good at speaking.

little things that have nothing to do with football but alot to do with perception of a coach/person.

Saban's NFL stint hurts his rep.

Why would Miles want to win dick? Is that the consolation prize in the ozarks for winning bowl games?

It was, but to be fair, the wheels hadn't completely come off for the Vols at that point in the season. They were still playing like they had something to win.

But yeah, Saban is the best coach in America. Period. And I'm not going to get into the argument of whether Miles is a good coach or not.

The last 3 years excluding this season what is Saban's SEC regular season record vs Les Miles record. 21-3 to 14-10. Miles has no West Titles in 3 years and Saban has 2. Saban has 2 undefeated seasons and Les has some 2 loss seasons. If Les doesn't win the West this year all this LSU talent will have been wasted.

and it was a really crappy year in the SEC.

To say the least. They had two SEC losses and we're fortunate to play a crappy UT team in the SECCG.

Stupid.....

Everybody wants to win EVERY game.....it takes more than skill to do so.

I don't think not winning the West is "wasting" talent if we have 1 or 2 losses.

if LSU beats Alabama this year, LSU makes it 3 in a row next season.

if that happens, it'll be hard to make an argument that doesn't favor Miles

Saban is the best program builder.
Miles is the best program sustainer.
Saban is the ultimate Alpha male in the college game whose players fear him .
Miles is a family guy who has the undying respect of his players.

I'd take either and feel really, really fortunate.
We both have our guy, we have a great rivalry, mutual respect for the most part ,after you get past the 10% of knuckle draggers that embarrass both programs (70 % you Gumps, but I'm being charitable).

What's not to love ?

As a third party observer, my standard for who is 'a better coach' is who I would want to take over my favored program tomorrow, if the current coach dropped dead tonight.

To me, that is Saban, and it's not particularly close. I pretty much loathe the guy, but know that ability is not a function of 'like'. I like Les, but wouldn't want him to take the reigns before Saban.
