It's crazy how many people here know the rules better than almost the entire officiating crew and even the player. Player immediately threw hands up after because they knew it wasn't 100% kosher, followed by 3 different refs all throwing flags. Meanwhile, the geniuses here: "no way that's a penalty!!"

I don't think it needed to be called. Nuss was transitioning to a defensive player and had taken at least 3 steps toward the runner. It was more of a shove than a hit and a bit of a flop.
That said, you are 100% right. Kennard could have just passed on the hit and the Gamecocks score a pick 6. Nuss wasn't going to impact the return. Players see a chance to take a shot on a QB, and can't pass it up. It was a dumb play that cost them points. 100% avoidable. You have to understand the protection QBs enjoy, even in those situations.

I guess some of these folks whining about officiating missed the no call block in the back penalty on Rocket Sanders’ long TD run.
