I was glad to see it happen. Clemson got the benefit of BS targeting call on Sunshine that completely changed the momentum and in turn game in the Ohio State game.

I enjoyed watching them get the arse end of the stick on that play.

I think an ejection should occur on a player’s 2nd targeting call

The game against Oklahoma and the play where 22 was fricking bushwhacked is a good example of an ejection. There needed to be a 15 yarder last night but I have a hard time with the ejection for hard honest play.

The first time was into Burrow on the TD pass to Moss right before the half.

No he didn’t. He hit with his shoulder and his head to the side. That was a text book tackle and one they should use a video of.

It was just an atomic bomb of a hit by a fricking Viking

Even if the rule was ejection for intentional contact he would've been ejected, it had all the markers

- Launch
- Led with crown of the helmet
- Forceable contact to Head/Neck area

There are cases where it's very unfortunate, this wasn't one of them.

Devine White was ejected for far less.

The rule was not established to punish anyone. The rule was established to keep someone from breaking their neck and becoming a paraplegic.

Did you see the slow motion of that LB'ers neck?

Fortunate guy.

The shitty part is that he is now also out for the first half of their season opener.

Wait seriously? Come the hell on. This needs to be changed.

You're taught to tackle with your eyes up, if he does that, he stays in the game

Agree with you. Call was right according to the rule. The rule is trash.

Somehow they have to work INTENT into the rule.

I feel like that would make things worse because then it’s a complete judgement call (which is already an issue). It needs to be as objective as possible, IMO.

They just need to get rid of the ejection, or maybe add the ejection if a player gets a second targeting penalty.

Yep.

Didn’t this happen to y’all last year or the year before? Targeting in the second half of your bowl game, that is.

In my honest opinion, from simply a player safety point of view, the crackback block by Ross in the 1st could (should) have been ruled targeting and resulted in an ejection as well.

if the Clemson player lifts his head, he would have made helmet-to-helmet contact. So he was getting ejected anyway

Had he hit with his facemask, he wasn't getting ejected.

You can make helmet to helmet contact if the player isn't defenseless, which he wasn't (rules official explained all this on the telecast). You cannot lead with the crown of your helmet in any case.

Which is stupid, and more dangerous. Targeting is an idiotic and forced rule meant to placate soccer moms.

No one involved with football at any level should support such nonsense in its current form.

The Heads Up propaganda is a scam. Stop teaching your players garbage technique.

Do you have any proof other than being butt hurt about the call two weeks ago to prove this?

I’ve not once heard that tackling with the face down is safe.
