One bama lineman did not block anyone
The low snap didn’t allow milroe to look at rb and messed up the whole play
That bama center likely needs to move Away from Tuscaloosa

The snap was bad and 65 got blown off the ball so bad that he tripped Milroe.
Milroe likely would have ran left. But he had to start up the middle first then bounce. They left a defender unblocked who over pursued the play(unblocked likely due to play design).

It wasn’t just a good call, it was the ONLY call.
Your quarterback just fumbled the ball being indecisive running on the perimeter. He completely had the yips all game. Not the first time we’ve seen that from him.
Forget about giving him an option to throw it. You give him one decision. That makes the play call options very limited. You don’t trust your qb to make a run/throw option, and I’m not trusting him to make a read from the 3 yard line against that pass rush. No damn way.
You showed the most success right up the middle against that defense. A defense that gets up the field and is disruptive, go right at them. And they did.
And it should have worked. If Milroe follows the pulling guard and cuts left he scores. Maybe he does that if the snap isn’t low instead of just diving in the pile. But the snap was low and he panicked. Perhaps if the snap isn’t low, he doesn’t panic, and the play works.
It wasn’t executed. It was the right call and the only call but it wasn’t executed by the offense.

Everybody knew they were going to go with QB counter. It is a very effective call against what Michigan was doing up front. Uses some of their aggression to the offense's advantage and has a numbers advantage typically. Alabama had used it repeatedly since the later stages of the 1st half.
Alabama's OL didn't win their matchups well enough and the snap was so piss-poor that Milroe couldn't turn chicken shite into chicken salad. I didn't really matter if they knew it was coming or not. They'd been knowing it was coming most of the 2nd half and failed to stop it. Alabama's OL got beat badly.
But in the final analysis, it was a bad play call because it didn't work. That's how it goes.

I can’t decide if Milroe is a bad QB who can run really well or a good running back with a decent arm. If Bama had a good QB and used Milroe in the wildcat they would be unstoppable.

Milroe never made an attempt to go left. He ran straight then tripped over his right tackle and dove forward.

I definitely think it was an rpo with the RB swinging into the left flat looking back for the ball and two WRs out there to block for him. I think Milroe panicked when the snap hit the dirt.

It wasn't counter.
Only the right guard pulled.

At the same time, I think the UM end went so far upfield because Milroe was still so far back and to the center. If the snap were better and he'd gone upfield faster, I think the end pulls inside sooner. Maybe it's a 50/50 shot, as Milroe would have momentum. But it is a better shot.

quote:Another bad snap threw the timing of the play off. It was supposed to be an RPO, but the snap made Milroe's first move delayed, so the LB had the opportunity to start early moving toward the motion of the RB. That took away the numbers advantage for Alabama....shite happens.
It wasn't a bad play. Milroe fricked yall.

but I still think you have to try to get the ball to one of your playmakers in space and make them run down field to stop you.
The RB was wide open in the flat, Milroe never saw him.
You can argue it was due to the low snap, but he would’ve walked in with a basic pitch or screen pass.

BAMA had plenty of time and opportunity to get in position for their ice-cold kicker to kick a game-winning FG at the end of regulation. He would've probably been good from 55-58 yards. Offense needed to pick up 34-37 yards to give Reichard a legitimate chance. They could only muster 18. How many times did they run? Once, and it was a scramble. Milroe was 2/4 for 11 yards on that "drive". Why let Milroe run on 4th and goal in OT down 7 and not at the end of regulation?
