I spoke up loud and strong against Bentley and voted against Strange twice because of his actions concerning the Luv Guv
Just curious what you think those actions were? Do you know what really happened? Not what Kyle Whitmore told you to think, but what actually went down?
Bentley was removed because the Attorney General's office had a long running investigation that was about to return felony indictments. The people running it answered directly to Strange and Marshall kept them in place when he took office.
Strange was an utter idiot and ended his political career by taking the appointment, but any other accusation is false. Bentley only offered it to him as a last-ditch effort to end the investigation but his plan blew up when Marshall showed good integrity, immediately stepped aside, and let it keep right on trucking.

no, I do not truly KNOW
but my understanding is that Strange used the power of his office to obstruct, or at a minimum, slow down any actions being taken to remove Bentley from office in exchange for the appointment to Sessions' seat

my biggest issue isn't with his affair so much (even though it shows rank hypocrisy and demonstrates that he has low character and is untrustworthy)
my big issue is that Bentley used state funds to facilitate his affair and then used the power of his office to intimidate & bully people to cover up his poor actions

thanks for that insight - I was super pleased when Bentley was FINALLY impeached
Kay Ivey made a bad decision to hold a special election
even though I am glad Luther is out; I recognize that as a state (and really, even as a nation) we'd have been far better off if Governor Granny had just left Luther in the seat until the scheduled election in 2020
just look how this whole damned mess has a guy like me pettily bickering with Jake, someone who would normally be an ally in political discussions and what it has done to his family (and many more families and friendships - I KNOW)
also - I know that Moore's election will be used as fodder for the democratic machine & he will be the poster boy for negative ads on a national level (much as Pelosi is for conservatives)
it's a hot mess and it sucks all the way around

Big picture is we're gonna get skull drug in '18 and Trump will be impeached and they'll get the 15 or 16 repulican votes in the Senate needed to convict. The Republican Party has taken historic wins in the last few election cycles and parlayed them into needing life support. Moore will be Kavorkian pulling the plug. How's that single Alabama Senate seat going too look in '20 when the Dims have the white house and super majorities? Yeah, this is exactly what selling your soul to the devil looks.

Not one of those things will happen.

I know personally many of the people directly involved and what everyone "understood" based on mostly media editorials (who are now pushing a particular senate candidate) simply were not true.

no
they won't
repubs will take at least 3 and maybe as many as 9 seats n the Senate
this is a very favorable election cycle with a bunch of seats up for election in very red states
we will lose seats in the House though, but probably not enough to swing the chamber to dem control
also; IF the repubs will pass tax reform, esp the corporate tax cut, the economy will scream and Trump will be a lock in '20

I bet 98% of Vols had no idea about the Schiano stuff before your AD Clay Travis started screaming at the sky Sunday.

You guys are dreaming. That tax cut is going to go over like a lead ballon if it even passes. It would be nice if People could understand that the cuts are needed and that they, the middle class, are going have to pay more in taxes to manage the deficite, but the backlash will be extreme. Probably want even pass though and even if those cuts do make it thru by some miracle it'll take more than 2 years for the average American to notice a benefit. Sure the stock market will look sweet but it's been looking sweet for quite some time. People are tired of looking at a record high stock markets and having it translate into butkus on their check stubs. Historically unpopular twitter in chief, child molesting senators, and a disappearing demographic, but hey everythings gonna be fine. frick off.

That's the Gods honest truth. Anyone that would accept this or make light of this is sick.
There are more important things in life than football, or basketball, or sports in general.
This is not a joke, there is absolutely NOTHING I take as seriously as this issue.
a statement that sports isn't really all that important and pedophiles disgust you ...
so brave ...

What I wanna know is why would anyone even endorse him at this point? For example, Booger McFarland. Makes no sense.

What did the polls say last November?
Further, these "polls" are all generic party vs generic party and generally nationwide at the moment. In terms of winning individual house and senate races, they are completely meaningless.
When you look at what will happen in individual senate races, you've got to look first at what seats are in play. In the competitive category, there are 12 currently held by Democrats, 5 by Republicans, and 1 by an Independent who caucuses on the Democratic side. Right off the bat, to win the senate back the Democrats have to both hold all thirteen seats (including the Independent) and flip three of the five R seats - Alabama, Arizona, Nevada, Tennessee, and Texas. Flipping two won't do it because Pence would still give Rs the tiebreaking vote. Conversely, the Ds have to defend seats in nine states that voted for Trump in the presidential election. Simple numbers combined with mid term voting trends (Ds tend to stay home) would suggest that the Rs are more likely to increase their Senate majority than they are to lose it.
The House is a somewhat different story because all the seats are up, but that's were the county-by-county electoral map comes into play. There simply aren't that many competitive house districts anymore. The Ds could get enough seats to win it, but the most likely outcome is that they simply close the gap. They'll have a better shot in 2020 when the Rs have to defend more seats and the voter turnout will be much higher because of the presidential election.

All the dims need is the house to oust Trump in '18. Enough republicans in the Senate would vote to convict if a simple majority in Congress vote to impeach. Or do you image Trump has an Iron grip on those boys?

We'll see, but I think there are enough closeted Flakes out there that would rather see their party burn than watch it go from being the party of Reagan to the party of Trump and Moore. I'm one of them in case you hadn't already guessed it.
Vive la small government! Vive la free trade! Vive la William F. Buckley Jr.! And frick billionaire Dims peddling in conspiracy theories while pretending to be Republican because that's where most of the racists are, frick child molesting would be Senators, and frick all of you white trash peices of shite who support them and have ruined the name of our party in the name of your pathetic white male grievance. fricking snowflakes without beneficial skills.
I don't believe in any Gods, but if Jesus was the real deal, and I get sent to hell as an unbeliever, then I hope I get to sit next to all of you Alabama hypocites. It would make the whole hell thing worth it.

Also frick Bill Clinton and all you fricking lib/dims for introducing our country to the post truth era. I see a ton of you fricks trying to high road our side, take a very long look in a fricking mirror, then break it and see if you can find a good use for the shards.
