I thought Eros was love and Cupid was desire/lust?

I think we may migrate in this direction more often. Good folk in hur.

What's your point romeo? You can't make yourself love someone... Love and lust are different... what the frick are you getting at?
If you can make yourself love someone, why haven't you fallen in love with some nasty arse bitch in the last 10 1/2 months. There are plenty out there.

You should. You and fr33 would add a lot to this thread on a nightly basis.

Okay. You have different types of love.
Eros is lust
Agape is unconditional love, like that of a parent for a child.
Phileo is brotherly love, camaraderie.
As well as some others

The only two types of love that last. For eros to last it must turn into agape.

Eros in the Greek, as a philosophy, not a god. Cupid and Eros in that sense are the same. They are winged archers that stir the feelings of lust within you with those cute little arrows.

I wasn't trying to offend anyone. I used to post in a thread that fr33 and lurkr were common posters. I think they could add a lot to this thread. I wasn't trying to tick anyone off. Just trying to keep some good posters in this thread.

Man I left this thread thinking I helped kill it. Glad to see its alive and well.

But Eros is not always sexual in nature. So I don't know that you can necessarily peg it as specifically lust. If I remember correctly Plato even goes so far as to say that Eros (I'm paraphrasing here) an understanding of spiritual truth. That you can seek truth via Eros.

I think you're thinking Storge when it comes to parental affection for a child. Agape is a little different IMO.

I was confused but I get your flavor now.

bullshite. People don't understand what "love" is. We've corrupted it so much.
Love in the sense of Agape and Phileo is borne out of shared experience and common bonds. Now lust, desire, all those fancy trappings we associate with love, those fade. And it's damn near impossible to get back.
But that doesn't last anyway. The bond must be forged through fire.
