Since you went there...I know one SEC team that hasn’t given Clemson any trouble over the years.

I didn’t go there ... the fricktard taterhead OP went there.

Clemson is 17-10 vs SC since expansion in 1992 with an average difference of less than a TD.

That’s with SC having played a brutal SEC schedule during that stretch and during the early years limping into the final game after having faced Tennessee and Florida just before.

... all the while Clemson was playing a weak ACC schedule.

That’s while SC played 13 eventual national championships during that stretch of time .... five different schools.

Clemson played three ... all FSU.

So yeah, given the criteria the Sheep humping sister banging taterhead OP presented, the first one that came to mind was Clemson.

Clemson has blown donkey balls against the SEC overall ... and is barely hanging on against SC but for this little winning streak you’re currently on.

The criteria the OP laid down fits Clemson perfectly.

If Clemson did not play in the ACC Clemson would be middle of the pack almost anywhere else.

ACC = place where Clemson can be #1 or #2

B1G = never be the alpha as Ohio State will not let that happen and even Michigan - which has not been a power for ages - would not let them be an alpha

B12 = would be the floater behind texas and Oklahoma

PAC = Who knows but at lest above average

SEC = middle of the pack even in the east with them being down and all

Cheese Grits. If you put my hand to the stove I will tell you that UNC will never leave the SEC and that the ACC is in good shape. My only point was IF the ACC collapsed, UNC would never join the SEC. Instead, they would look towards the BIG. That’s the feedback I received from the Powers That Be. I’m not saying I like that. In fact the contrary.

I agree that the BIG would be a terrible fit. Nothing would be worse than UNC traveling in the upper Mid West during basketball season or playing BIG teams during the football season. UNC is a Southern School and we need to remain in a southern conference.

Maryland was the watershed and only happened because they had a midnight coup that swapped a pro SEC administration with the guy from Iowa. They certainly did not engage the fans and it has not gone well.

I may be old but I used to hang out with some of the biggest donors down in Chapel Hill and would be shocked if the Tar Heels left the ACC. B1G may be big but ESPN and Disney are bigger from the exposure angle and just can't see UNC pissing off those folks. I am also old enough to remember when NC State was the basketball leader of Tobacco Road and UNC in the B1G means they would be back in the drivers seat.

Even Dodds said it was a mistake for Tech to leave the SEC and this is not lost on the rest of the folks in the ACC. SEC can make lemonade with the #2 schools in a state if the #1's get too cocky. All that B1G is lots of wishful dreaming by folks in the B1G who are used to the domination they had with the wealth of the auto industry of the last century. There are the only conference that really needed to expand into growing markets and populations. ACC, SEC, B12, and PAC all have growing demographics and at the end of the day the folks in NC know this.

While academics (and research dollars) are important, sports are infomercials for the schools and they can't buy that exposure with just academics.

In the last round of realignment if memory serves the ratio was 25:1 in the SEC vs B1G decision and no administrator was dumb enough not to notice. TAMU and MU were headed to the PAC and B1G yet both are in the SEC because the fans revolted and things changed.

I would not worry, UNC is in the ACC for the long haul (they like being in control too much) and the smart folks know that the B1G would take that control away in short order to add UNC to the crowd.

I have no problem with Texas A&M and Missouri. Both are solid additions if the conference had to expand.

However, I would have loved UNC and UVA and not really for sports reasons (or realistic possibility) as much as the conference as a whole.

Out: Missouri and Vanderbilt
In: UNC and UVA

Those who claim they want Clemson, FSU, and other schools in already inhabited SEC states do not understand recruiting whatsoever.

UNC and UVA would offer the name brand schools and lock up the South (with the exception of Oklahoma and WV).

Missouri should be a B10 school and any academic leverage lost in Vandy is regained in both UNC and UVA.

I like VT and NC State, but I do not think they quite fit SEC culture (both engineering schools, NC State not in a real college town, VT has a northern vibe, etc.), and I’d also like the flagships of their respective states (UNC and UVA).

Obviously both schools offer great recruiting hubs and sizable TV markets (Charlotte + D.C.). I’m sure both could become competitive in football with an SEC logo to accompany new recruiting cultures.

Besides, Vandy stated the whole league. Would look pretty petty to ditch the one that borught you to the dance.
