But loses in the SECCG, does Georgia leapfrog them into the playoffs?

Does Alabama make it this year? Gotta think they’re below Tennessee in the pecking order.

Bama is # one in the pecker order.

No.

If Bama or any other SEC West champ is a two loss+ team and 2 of the other P5 Champs are 2+ loss Champs, UGA may get in with a loss tomorrow and no CCG appearance, but UTk would most certainly be in.

Other variables play into this.

Margin of victory (in all games involved), Other P5 Championship contenders and their outcomes...etc. Georgia could leapfrog them...or both UT and the Winner from the West could go...or only the SEC CG winner could go...or 3 from the SEC could go...who freaking knows, Nostradumbass?

In this scenario both UT and UGA would have the same record. UT would have the head-to-head win over UGA. TN will have had wins over Bama, UGA, and LSU. UGA would have a win over Oregon.

I think the SEC Champion goes to the playoffs.

I honestly think we get one team this year.

We've only gotten more than 1 team in twice in 8 years, and both times were for hte exact same reason: the only other choice to put in at 4 was a P5 champion with 2 losses. So an SEC team with a great resume and only 1 loss went instead.

People act utterly stunned when you suggest we only get 1 team in, like they somehow don't realize that that's very much the norm and not some rarity.

Yep!

One, and only one, of the four teams playing tomorrow will go.

UT
UGA
LSU
UA

Who makes the CFP from the SEC depends greatly on how TCU and Clemson and a few others play out.

Rule#1 SHOULD be that whoever wins the SEC Championship should be team#1 chosen from the SEC. If it ends up at Bama (12-1 SEC Ch), UGA (11-1), and Tennessee (12-1), Bama should be the first pick from the SEC.

The SEC Champ is going no matter who it is.

Other teams will have to lose another SEC team into the playoffs.

Not necessarily. If UT and Bama run the table, meet in ATL and Bama wins in a rematch, there’s no way UT drops out of the top 4 and Bama would be in as SEC Champs with one loss.

Not likely to happen but not out of the realm of possibilities.

So what if LSU continues this crazy arse run and wins the SEC at 11-2?

UGA or Tennessee would be 11-1 without playing Atlanta.

You think LSU goes and the other gets left out?

That's not what happened with Ohio State and Penn State in 2016.

I seem to recall OSU going in place of their conference champ.

When Tennessee loses tomorrow, where will all the Tennessee posters be? I suspect they will huddle under the table and stop posting just like the A&M posters.
