He definitely called it.

No doubt.

Florida had never won an SEC title prior to his arrival and they dominated the 90s. That run alone makes him one of the greats, but making two programs relevant on the national scale in this conference would be history.

Wrong.

Alright, I guess his run wasn't all that impressive then.

More impressive for Spurrier but not better. Regardless what I think of Saban gotta give him props. Its hard enough for a coach to win 1 NC much less what Saban has done recently.

Seeing as it hasn't proven that difficult for an SEC team to win a natty... No.

Florida had never won a SEC title before Spurrier but the population in Florida grew rapidly in the 70s and 80s and therefore the football talent so that definitely made his job easier than his predecessors.

Lets not get too carried away with Spurrier. As great and dominant as his UF teams were, they only won ONE national title. The only other time they even played for the title, they suffered arguably the most HUMILIATING defeats in college football history at the hands of Nebraska 62-24! That loss brought Bob Stoops in as the UF DC.

I have a better question. Would you consider Spurriers time at South Carolina better than his stint at Florida?

No. He changed how the game of college football is played while at UF.

I thought that was later vacated?

Okay, regardless. In its history, UF only had one* SEC title and Spurrier almost instantly put them on the national radar.

Plus, he changed the way offense was played in the league. I dislike him, but he's one of the greatest coaches this level of football has ever seen.

If Saban went to South Carolina when spurrier did he would have a more impressive résumé while being there. Spurrier is nothing close to Saban.

Don't you know any open, vacated, or unclaimed titles go to Bama?

Hell, they claimed Lance Armstrong's vacated titles.
