If push comes to shove, the SEC should play themselves

A 13-game regular season with a championship game featuring the two teams with the best record in Atlanta. There doesn't even have to be fans in the stands. If the Ivy League is just the first hammer to fall, I feel like the league office should be discussing an intra-conference season.

I'm betting those discussions have already taken place in SEC offices.
As pointed out though, the optics of going it alone will probably be tough for some administrators.

That would be cool but I think something around 10 regular season games would be more realistic. But then again I really don’t think football will be played at all

original plan, I'll send it to Birmingham

frick the cowardice of the administrators. Play.

Between NCAA, conferences, and academia, there are just too many ways for this to end up canceled.

Can you imagine the negative publicity the SEC would receive if we were the only one playing ?

Would we even give a shite if we got negative publicity but got to play?
I wouldn't.
I wouldn't.

WHY play a CG if you already have a round-robin schedule that determines the SEC champ?

Imagine being the only conference playing. The only games people got to see. 7 games a week.

I wouldn’t either but presidents , BOT, etc. would . And just imagine what our 24 hour news services would run with how we are the only ones that don’t care about student athletes safety/lives etc . Would be a PR nightmare if we were the only ones ... just saying

Now that the Ivy League has caved...I’m betting the Ivy League wannabe schools in the ACC will be next to jump.
If that happens it’s time for Clemson, VA TECH and FSU to reconsider Conference affiliations.

What conference would you want Clemson to go to?

PR Nightmares?
You mean like flying a flag that represents an enemy to the United States, and having treasonous traitorous cowardly loser racist confederate symbology & monuments all over the Deep South, while having the names of traitorous assholes on 10 military bases, YOU MEAN THAT KIND OF PR NIGHTMARE?
If folks in the Deep South can ignore that level of PR nightmare, then I'm sure they can ignore outsiders for something like CFB

Epic ratings. Showcase the Conference to a sports starved nation.

The only way we would get any real significant criticism is if bunches of our players got Covid.
That being said, realistically, if no other Power 5 conference is playing, the SEC wont be playing either.

I am so scared of this exact scenario. For some reason I think UGA would have its best team ever and only be able to claim an SEC championship. That’d be some shite.

Face it. This will be the first year that all SEC teams will be undefeated.
