I know it's impossible for this to happen so I guess more what I'm asking is to some of the older folks what happened when SMU had their schedule canceled. Obviously we'd all lose a game so soon that it probably couldn't be made up, and would slant the SEC schedule unfairly. What would the conference do? And what did the SWC when it happened to SMU?

I can't think it would be any different than their last 100 years or so of irrelevancy

They would have just as many SEC football titles with the death penalty as they do in the last 54 years.

We would grumble. A lot. Expect Ole Miss to beg for their share of the pie. Everybody lines up an extra last minute opponent.

The NCAA probably gives a wink and a nod to scheduling an extra FCS school under the circumstances.

So Ole Miss gets it in the shorts and a lot of small schools get a blowjob and steak payoff.

I can live with that.

Idk, ole miss is historically in the bottom half of the conference in every sport. Their athletic dept is a flat out joke. I promise you they benefit more from being in the sec than the sec benefits from having them in this conference. The sec would be just fine without ole miss and probably better because we would add another school that actually could elevate our brand. Ole miss is hot garbage, always has been and always will be. I mean, we are talking about a team that is a known cheater, multiple times, under multiple administrwtions. It's a institutional problem to its very core. That's why they will get slapped with the loic. Even when they cheat to get an advantage they still don't accomplish a damn thing.

We have all received the death penalty from idiotic threads like this.

I hope most replies on this issue are jokes or just douchebags being douchebags. It is absolutely not in our best interest to see them shut down or hammered into extinction. I am not smart enough to tell the difference between who is serious and who isn't.

We've won more games at TD Ameritrade, made the NCAA Tournament with Marshall Henderson and you didn't with Ben Simmons, and we actually crossed the 50 yard line last time we played in the Superdome.

It would be in the SEC's best interest to just find a replacement. With Ole Miss irrelevant in every sport, literally any other team would do.

Still haven't crossed the 50 at the Georgia dome though

That joke would have been more applicable if we didn't play two other games there in the past four years.

Penn State truly deserved the death sentence if anyone ever has.
Ole Miss will not get the death sentence.

We have to see a new Wright Thompson piece every week on ESPN front page... it will read like greek tragedy mixed with some shakespeare but inspired mostly by William Faulkner. ESPN will do a 30 for 30 on it narrated by Shepard Smith. Trump will tweet about it and it will go viral... the world will get MsState and Umiss mixed up. Dan Mullen will reach out to the Global Scientologists and he will use hist master powers to unite them in a war against all those that got it mixed up... The Library and much of OM will be destroyed in a fashion similar to that of The Great Library of Alexandria. all of this will happen and affect us

The people it would hurt the most are the permanent residents of Oxford, MS.
If the small business owners there are like those in most small college towns (they are), those folks do the overwhelming majority of their business in the fall.
Losing a football season would be devastating to their economy.

With SMU being in Dallas, that wasn't an issue with the ponies.

Cheating is no bueno.
